This is definitely an area the greatly interests me, and sorely under-represented in media.

Coincidently, the plot for Attack of the 60ft centerfold sort of revolves around this topic.

Well, that was certainly an interesting take on Ranma 1/2, always did wonder what would happen if a girl fell into the pond of drowned girl.

Junji Ito wrote a story in which in a school various girls suddenly started to become more and more beautiful until they would suddenly die. The story focuses on a group of girls who actually look quite ugly until one of the group suddenly undergoes the changes becoming quite beautiful. From what I can remember one by one the group changes. This being a horror manga it does involve death and some gore as a rumor that one can extend their life by killing.
