Well, remember that when you argue with someone, often your goal isn't to convince that person, but to convince the non-invested audience to agree with you and stone the other guy to death. Even if your argument is faulty, you can still come off strong with the audience if you present it in a witty, entertaining way.

Absolutely, but the sense of accomplishment is not as strong in that situation. I mean, a win's a win, but it seems almost like "I tricked the uneducated masses into siding with me before you could" tactic...and now I've offended all the smart people in the audience. Besdies, I don't want the audience to stone you. Who esle would I verbally joust with then?

This whole thing was born out of insomia, misspellings, and overdose/lack of caffenine...
