Two More Body Expansion Moments in Hi Hi Puffy AmiYumi
In the recent new episode, there were two incidents of body expansion.
The first one occured in "Truth or Dare," and was just Ami. She and Yumi were playing truth or dare, and each one kept choosing a dare to avoid telling the truth (and hurting the other's feelings). One of the dares Ami had to do was suck the contents of a mondo-sized drink cup in one gulp, causing her to go ball-shaped. The second occured in "Sumo Kaz," In this episode, Kaz accidently tripped up a sumo wrestler during a match, and Ami got convinced he was a natural. She trained Kaz, but since he was simply too small for his oppenent, Ami fattened him up until he was even larger than his oppenent was (Not that helped. He got too big to move). After deciding the sumo life was just pain, Kaz retired. However, now Kaz felt bad since he was gigantically obese, but then we see the girls there, now fattened up to his size. Apparently, they wanted him to not feel like the only one who needed to lose weight and that they were a team. With this, they finally made a "puffy" joke.

Yeah, Hi-hi Puffy Amy Yumi is just a bunch of Wapanese lightly-written crap.
People over in Japan hardly even recognize them as one of their own, and yes I have had communications with several members of different main-stream circles over in Japan(I teach them English in a simple fashion, they send me pocky and information, it works). Other than that, the characters hardly even look like their real-life counter-parts, or even look vaguely human, thus it wouldn't be seen as fanservice or even slightly "wankable" material. |

I hate that show. The opening theme does my head in, and I quickly switch channels if an ad for it suddenly comes on. Can't stand it.

Oh good, I'm not the only one who dislikes the show.
It definetely reeks of "cash in". It's not set in Japan. There's no Japanese in the actual show. If it was some flash cartoon on the web making fun of those people, maybe. Otherwise it's a poor excuse for a show. And I agree that not only are the characters not voiced by the real life counter parts, they don't even resemble the real people. They could have just as easily used any pop-punk duo from Japan and simply named the charcters accordingly. |
