The style is an imitation of an early 1900s newspaper comic strip called "Little Nemo in Slumberland," which is really why it doesn't look modern. The fact that it was done in 1983 doesn't have much bearing on that.

I use to play this whenever someone would bring out that annoying as hell Teferi card.


Now I feel inspired to draw out a scene where the creature copies someone.

I have slightly worse associations with the word 'doppleganger', namely Twin Peaks finale terrifyingery. This however is far sexier and will henceforth replace the evil midget and screaming Laura Palmer in my mind. Somehow.
Also, didn't this strip also have a BE, um, strip too? It was very good. It used to be here back many eons ago. I don't have it, sorry.
