Re: The Puberty Fairies (AR/AP comic)
I thought this too, but I'm not sure why. There's just as much if not more AR in the comic than AP. I think it might just be the part with 2 random girls aging at the same time is so memorable since DT has never done anything like it before. Really would like to see more of that type of thing actually.

DT,
Loved the comic. So is the 2nd part done and you are just staggering release due to size of the project? or are they still working on it? |

Thanks! I'm still waiting on a few extras from Bojay that I want to add to Part Two.

Can someone tell me how much AR is in this, i.e. how many total transformations?

Re: The Puberty Fairies (AR/AP comic)
Blahblah,
There's probably a total of 4 AR's in this. Adult to Teen, Preteenish to Def Preteen. The rest are Child to Teen and Early Teen to Adult. I bought this last night and honestly for the 12 dollars I expected more. I guess after readying Yard Work I was expecting something different. Nothing against DT. I always buy the AR/AP comics. They're more appealing than the GTS comics. But like Beach Blanket Beauties I have to point out something. In Beach Blanket Beauties 2 the gun is used to shrink someone. In this the puberty faeries bestow giant-ism on some girl. How/Why? There is no explanation given at all. Now, the argument can be made, very convincingly, that because they're faeries of puberty they can naturally continue making someone bigger/stronger/daft punk/faster. However I would expect another application of their magic not to make someone a gaint. But to make them older. That's what we've seen so far. Unless in the girls DNA she was naturally going to get that tall. Plus I HATE tall/muscular women. Short/shrinking petite women. That's ok. ![]() Also that said, if they can make someone continue to grow into giant levels, why can't they shrink? Why can't they cause instant boob growth? Can they make a face younger and younger but the rest of the body older? When you made someone a giant my mind went on to conclude that they could do all that I mentioned and more. Oh, someone has a wrinkly forehead... BOOM teenage face old lady body. Oh, that younger girl has bigger boobs than me and I'm twice her age! When will puberty give me an awesome rack? See what I mean? Basically what I'm saying is that you have an effect, that hasn't been explained, that just happens and you're expecting the audience to just assume this is right/proper. But as a reader/editor/writer I expect the thermo nuclear hand grenade to blow up and destroy things. Now if it's revealed it's actually the Thermo Nuclear Bimbonating hand grenade I would expect to see men killed(Maybe), and women turned into bimbo's. The story is good, I don't know if I'd give it the 7.5 the other person did. But that's a matter of price, 12 bucks is edging up to the max I'll pay for your books, and the above flaw in my opinion. But then I will willingly admit I'm very hard to give perfect ratings to anything because there's always room for improvement. It's nice to see more girls in on the action but the thing I loved about Yard Work is that when the Teens start getting younger it's gradual and the water has operated sorta how I expect it. That said, I'll still buy the second one. But I like/appreciate getting feedback from fans. So I hope you value/appreciate it.

Re: The Puberty Fairies (AR/AP comic)
Wow, thanks so much for the detailed comments! I really appreciate them and definitely pay attention to all the feedback.
I agree continuity / consistency is key, and I really tried to make this story as logical as possible. The key element is that Mother Nature wants to make her subjects happy, and the Fairies are trying to do just that, and messing it up. I don't think it’s a big leap to say that the same Fairy powers that make people grow older and more mature can also make them grow taller and sexier. It’s just more growth, right? Regarding the art, the deal with PalComix is that you get the completed artwork without the ability to comment on drafts or sketches. So it’s pretty much WYSIWYG. If you want a do over you have to pay all over again. That said, I did actually pay another artist to have several pages Photoshopped to make the character sizes more consistent. Still, I think the PalComix artist has been getting better and better, and he does an amazing job with AR and AP. Part Two has lots more AR /AP transformations, and is closer to the “Bring on the Chaos!” that Jeff 2bya was looking for. Plus there’s a whole series of AR /AP sketches by Bojay that were used as concept pieces for the comic. |

Re: The Puberty Fairies (AR/AP comic)
The thing that made me buy this, much like Yard Work, is that it had a mom lamenting over her aging and then being rejuvenated to her prime. Pity she didn't get to enjoy it more. Also, the artwork didn't do a convincing job of making her look sagging or even slightly middle-age before the rejuvenation. She never looked a day over 20 if you ask me.
As for the artwork, it was a bit lacking. The perspectives and proportions of body parts were off in almost every panel. Considering how much time that has to go down into coloring the artwork, I feel it would be well-invested to spend a little more time on the sketching phase to get the proportions right. Or doing post-production with PhotoShop's Liquify tool. I hope in the second part the fairies or Mother Nature reveals themselves to the humans and promise to put things back to normal, but the mom gets to request that she only ages back to her prime, not to her true age. She needs to flirt with the hunks some! I love it when mortals start bargaining with deities to get improved, and when the story leaves us with the protagonists permanently improved. I agree that Betsy needs to get a break. It would be a nicely awkward ending if both daughters and their mother end up as young and sexy women, nearly the same age. Betsy and Lauren could be annoyed that their mother is calling dibs on the young men they had set their sights on. You could slip in some IB if Betsy is granted to grow up, but doesn't turn out very big-breasted or slim as an adult, so Mother Nature feels sorry for her and performs an additional spell to give her a perfect hourglass figure. With Betsy aware of all this. ![]() |

Re: The Puberty Fairies (AR/AP comic)
It would be pretty funny if Mother Nature got regressed. Besides that(and this applies to something in the future, not necessarily this series), it would be cool to see a comic that focused on the mother regressing in a normal setting(in normal clothes, not in a swimsuit). It would be cool if something like that happened in the future of Yard Work, too. It just seems like that concept has been teased a lot in these AR comics(as in the situations being set up so you would almost expect it to happen), so I'd like to see more of it. I'm more of a fan of the interplay between the mother and her daughters rather than the two sisters when it comes to age related craziness. Thanks for the comic, Dreamtales!

I quite liked this. Bumbling magical beings are a favorite plot device of mine. Can't wait to see the next part!

Easy there... provide some real criticism or just say nothing at all.

Re: The Puberty Fairies (Part Two Up 9/1/13)
Part Two is ready!
In Part Two: Betsy gets a dose of growth magic; The volleyball team finds their bikinis on the big side; Mom gets zapped – and zapped again; Random regressions as the fairies fight; And lots of AR and AP sketches by Bojay! The Puberty Fairies is a Betsy and Lauren story with art by Palcomix. The story features Dewey and Daffy, two magical fairies who make little girls big (and big girls little). They’re trying to do the right thing, but keep dropping their fairy dust on the wrong people. “Puberty Fairies Two” has 58 pages, including 36 multi-panel color pages by Palcomix, plus another 22 pages of black and white drawings and concept pieces by Bojay. You can get more info and buy the comic here: http://www.dreamtalescomics.com/Blog...y-fairies-two/ Last edited by Dreamtales; 09-01-2013 at 10:16 AM. |
