The Tale of Ebony Floe v3.1 is public!
https://puff-knight.itch.io/the-tale...review-demo-v3
Version 3.1 was released on SubscribeStar last month, but it finally went public yesterday. Here's everything that's changed:
Quote:
A new revised moveset for Ebony that is more mario-esque, including a different jump (and the removal of double jump), a mario-stlye triple jump, a somersault jump, a ledge up jump, and general movement changes to make Ebony's movement a lot more momentum focused, including changes that allow Ebony to carry more of her momentum more consistently when wall jumping. This also comes with new animations for all the new moves too ^^
Gameplay now orients around a score-based system where performing good strings of moves will award you points! Instead of fetching things too a fro, you now collect Insights around the map that are attained by performing a timed score challenge (only one type of such challenge for now). You then write papers using these Insights to earn money or to replenish mood
New revised mood mechanics! Mood can now range from negative to positive and will affect how quickly Ebony gets fatigued. There is no longer a specific loss mechanic for now, so there is no more health to worry about. These are a bit experimental and might change in the near future
A new improved look for Ebony! But more excitingly, Ebony now has proper squish to her belly so her clothes now squish into her slightly when she's inflated. Most clipping artifacts are resolved as well with this. Her also model now has improved hip shapes (which comes with slightly larger hips sizes) and a much cleaner spherical transition (no more shrinking limbs!)
A new system for determining the shape! Now every action (mainly food in this case) has a particular shape that it will try to inflate Ebony into. If it fails, the shape will be remembered and will be pulled from when performing actions that have no shape bias (such as doing some platforming). This way you can have control over the shape you get a bit while still having the tension of not being able to know exactly when it will happen (and also having to keep track of the last thing you did
