Re: New TF Story
Note to self: Read this sometime...
I have scanned this and have liked what I have seen so far, but there is a lot of it, and I need sleep. This post is here so I can more easily find the thread.

I vote Avian, but then she flies too high and accidently hits a helicopter or plane, and The Body takes over and eats it, Mary inside screaming, "Noooooooooooooooooooooooo......."

Re: New TF Story
Hmm...thats tough. I think quadruped would be...uninteresting? I mean when you read a story about a girl that can squeeze through a tennis ball sized hole, running on four legs just doesn't seem as interesting. That and it seems the Body's natural form has to do with tentacles so it would seem more likely to have a beast with 8 or more legs than just 4.
Avian on the other hand would be interesting for both the reader and for Mary. It's always been a human dream to fly without machines, so I could easily imagine Mary finding air travel a much more fun and safe way to get around. And this option does allow for maybe some more interesting events. as Flango said "but then she flies too high and accidently hits a helicopter or plane, and The Body takes over and eats it, Mary inside screaming." Or maybe she's hit and then gets splats onto the ground below, sending pieces of her flying all over, forcing her to put her self back together. It could either be all at once, or she could go around looking for individual bits and tentacles of herself as she's half formed. So basically I vote Avian. |

Re: New TF Story
Avian it is, then.
And given how many different species in all the different worlds the Flesh has incorporated into itself over the millennia, I think "unconventional" is a given... ![]() |

Re: New TF Story
Hi Soy,
I just wanted to say - this story is amazing! I love the detail and it is one of the very, very, very few alien tfs i can actually find on the internet (I kinda have a fetish for alien/slime/tentacle tfs - which are all in the story) ![]() BTW, if its not too late, I vote for avian too, but maybe an alien kind of avian creature? That can fly much faster than a normal earth bird? Just a suggestion... |

Re: New TF Story
"We'll figure this out, Katie, you'll see. Everything will be fine."
Mary had another night of fitful sleep, plagued by nightmares, terrible seeds planted in her imagination by Katie flowering into nightmarish visions. She imagined Katie turning into something lean and feral, Arms and legs buldging with muscle, neck lengthening and face squashing down into a blunt, fang-rimmed muzzle, terrible claws on her fingers and toes, only her inhumanly-prodigious bustline the only part untouched as her best friend became a monster and attacked her. Mary could only flail helplessly as she was torn limb from limb, the wounds frightening and distressing but not painful. The Katie-monster paused, and Mary re-formed herself, the flesh of her body seperating into tentacles and reforming into the tentacle-monster. With one crack of a whip-like tentacle, Mary seperated the Katie-Monster's head from its body, the tentacle cracking with such speed and precision it severed the head as cleanly as a guillotine. Mary woke up with a choked cry attempting to escape her lips. She looked around, feeling as though she was wrapped in blankets. she heached a hand up to her face and felt the thick, pliable mass of tentacles between her and her hand. She realized the tentacles had wrapped themselves around her in some sort of defensive coccoon, probably her entire "lair" smothering her (yet, she noticed, not hampering her ability to breathe at all). "Off! Off!" Mary yelled at the mass, thrashing her arms as she sat up. The tentacles dropped off of her, slithering out of the bedroom and back to their normal spot in the corner. Mary put a hand to her heart, expecting to feel it pounding in her chest, before realizing there was no heart there to pound. Heven so, she took a few deep breaths to steady herself from her nightmare. "What was the meaning of that sensation?" She heard the Body ask, giving her another start. "Where was that meat that attacked us? Why do we not feel the wounds iflicted?" Mary paused, noting the Body's voice in her head. Was that actual fear she'd just heard? "It was just a dream," Mary said. "A nightmare." "What does it come from?" The body asked. "We were helpless to attack or defend. We were as prisoners." Mary realized that of all the species The Body had ever incorporated into The Flesh, humans were apparently the first that had dreams, and Mary was glad for anything that made the Body uneasy. Mary got up and got dressed, noting with dismay that she or her tentacles or something had started to eat her sheets while she'd been sleeping, a large divot of linen and mattress stuffing gone from where she'd been laying. Grumbling, Mary began getting dressed, only to be interrupted halfway through by the phone ringing. Mary started to go to get it, but stopped when she remembered she was in Katie's apartment- it certainly wouldn't look okay for her to be answering katie's phone when she was off at school. The answering machine beeped, the electric monotone giving out the usual "Please leave a message after the tone" spiel. "Mary!?" Katie's voice called out, obviously in a panic. Mary tensed up, her shirt only half-pulled down her stomach. "MAry, are you there? Pick up!!" Mary raced to the phone, pulling the handset off the cradle. "Katie?" She yelled into the receiver. "What's the matter? What's wrong?" "It weore off!" Katie sobbed. "Right in the middle of lecture it started wearing off!" "Oh my God, Katie, are you all right? Did anyone see you?" "I- I'm okay, except for, you know.." Katie sniffled. "I made it to the bathroom before, uh, anything big happeed, but half the class and the school nurse are outside the door and I'm- well-" "-boobzilla?" "Yes!" "So what can I do?" Mary asked. "I need you to bring an injection- some of 'my medicine'." "A what? How?" "I don't care how, Mary, I just need youto bring it!" Katie pleaded. "I can't let anyone see me like this!" "Okay, okay, I'll get over there as soon as I can. I'm already dressed." "O-okay," Katie said, a little calmer though still hitching breaths. "All right? I'll be there as soon as I can." "All right. See you soon..." Mary blew a breath out as she hung the phone back up, putting the handset down on the table. How was she going to get to the university? Katie had the only car, and there wasn't really anyone in the complex she could ask for a ride. Could she take the bus? Call a taxi? But they were much too slow, Mary needed to leave *now*, before anyone decided to take a peek at Katie and see what happened to her. Mary paused, an idea coming to her. She focused her thoughts inward, seeking out The Body. "Can you make me into something fast?" She asked, remembering the way her legs had shifted when she was outrunning the rain. "Like, really fast?" "The will of the mind is the shall of the Flesh," the Body replied. "The knowledge of every meat the Flesh has incorporated into its great purpose exists within all flesh. The Mind need merely will it and the Flesh obeys." "Okay, so, uh... what do you have that flies?" Mary asked, feeling like a confused shopper in a hardware store. In response Mary felt the skin on her hands and feet begin to harden. "Whoa, whoa, wait!" Mary yelled, trying to halt the change. She was able to slow the transformation down, but it didn't truly stop until she felt the Body stop of its own volition. "This is the most efficient airborne meat to ever be incorporated into our glory," The body said. "Is this not what you wished?" "Not inside it's not, doofus," Mary chided. She started towards the door, stalling when she realized that once she transformed and got to Katie, she'd probably need to transform back into a human, which meant she'd need to find some clothes once she got there. The only sensible thing to do would be to bring the clothes with her somehow. Mary went back to the kitchen, fishing one of the plastic grocery sacks out of the recycle bin from when she and Katie had gotten all that food. After shaking out the bag a few times to get it un-crumpled, mary quickly disrobed, folding up the clothes and stuffing them into the bad before tying the bag's two handles together in a knot. Mary went to the door, cracking it open and taking a peek outside to make sure the coast was clear before going outside and climbing up onto the roof, the knot of the bag clenched in her teeth. "Okay," She thought to the Body, "*now* you can continue turning me into whatever that thing was." The Body wasted no time. Mary felt herself shrinking, her hands and feet finishing their hardening, the skin taking on the rough, pebbled texture of bird's feet. Mary felt a twisted stretching senseation, like she was being put into a taffy machine, her back feeling like it was being pulled apart save for the fact that her spine stayed where it was. Her arms and legs began to fold together involuntarily, tucking in close to her body. "Ho-o-o-o-kay, starting to get wierded out now," Mary thought as she felt her face begin to flatten out, her nose and mouth squeezing together as her face rearranged itself into something beastial. It actually bothered mary less, she thought distractedly, to pull her human face in half than it was to have it change into something so strange. The pulling sensation on her back seemed to fade, and Mary fould feel a great expanse of flesh extending out of her sides, two fleshy membranes that Mary coule only sense, since at this stage of the transformation she had no neck to speak of. Her vision fuzzed slightly as her eyes migrated to the sides of her mouth, her features now seemingly plastered on the wide curve of flesh that her front seemed to have become. With a last stretching sensation from her backside, the transformation appeared to stop. "...What in the hell did you turn me into?!" Mary thought, feeling awkward and disoriented in her new shape. From what she could feel, it appeared that she was a wide, flat creature with a fan-like tail and four short, clawed appendages. In trying to picture the creature in her mind, The best Mary could come up with was a manta ray crossed with an eagle except with arms. "You wished for a form that raced through the air," The Body replied. "This is one of the most wondrous additions to our glory in that regard." "And this thing's supposed to fly somehow...?" Mary asked, taking an awkward step. She could barely keep her balance on the Manta-bird's unusual appendages. "Embrace the knowledge of the Flesh," The Body said. "What one flesh knows, all flesh knows." "Right," Mary said, rapidly losing patience. "Look, I'm in a hurry, so how about you fly this thing and I'll steer, okay?" "As you wish," The Body said, hunkering the creature down next to the edge of the roof. "Oh, and how about some chameleon skin, since I don't want to be a UFI over here...?" Mary asked. "What creature is this 'Chameleon'?" The Body asked, pausing. "Would it be a beneficial addition to our glory?" "Oh, whoops, guess you haven't eaten one of those yet," Mary thought. "It's a lizard that can change the color of its skin, to blend in with its surroundings." "Ah, we understand," The Body said. "Though not of the same name, we have incorporated such abilities into our glory." Maty felt a tingle crawl across her skin, and knew that the Body had made her effectively invisible, the Flesh's camoflaughe a hundred times more efficient and adptable than any lizard on earth. "So when do we gooooowaaaa!" Mare thought, only the sensation of the plastic knot between her needle-like teeth keeping her from gasping as she was launched into the air by a sudden lunge from her limbs. She saw the parking lot and the other apartment buildings falling away from her like she was a jetliner. Only by virtue of a second pair of translucent eyelids was Mary able to see anything without her eyes watering up. Mary was amazed at the sensations she was feeling from her fleshy "wings"- instead of large up-and-down flaps, her wings were vibrating in a wave-like pattern, hundreds of times per second, pushing the air from front to back like the blades on a propeller, only laterally. The tail on the back was being used to steer and adjust altitude, the flat, fleshy tailfanning out or constricting depending on where the creature wanted to be propelled. Mary found the speed at which she was hurtling through the air disconcerting, but so long as the Body knew what it was doing... "No!" Mary thought to herself. "Don't get comfortable with this! Don't get used to it! Remember, you want this thing out of your body eventually! Or, you out of its body, or whatever..." Mary sighed inwardly, coaxing the manta-bird toward her school. Mary wasn't sure how far it was to the university "as the crow flies", or even whatever this thing was, but she knew how to get there via the freeway, which she followed a few hundred feet above. It occurred to her that even if her chameleon-camoflauge was perfect, the bag dangling from her wouth wouldn't be. But from this height, it'd be little more than a dark speck against the sky, easily mistaken for some small bird. She hoped. Finally, Mary's school came into view. She directed the creature lower, looking for the landmarks that would tell her which building was which- they all looked very much aloke from the air, after all. "Let's see," Mary thought to herself, "If today's friday, and Mary ran out of her morning class, that mean's she's probably in building 26," She figured, urging the creature to the building's roof. "By the way," she though to the Body, "I sure hope you know how to land this thing..." The creature seemed to be angling itself to land on the building's roof, but Mary noticed the creature's altitude dipping more and more dangerously low. "Uh, we are supposed to be landing on *top* of the building, right?" She asked, to no reply. Mary watched as the horizon of the roof dipped lower and lower, until it actually rose above where she could look with her new eyes. "Aack!" Mary screamed mentally, "Pull up pull up pull UP!" All Mary could do was close her eyes as the wall of the building zoomed towards her, until a sickening lurch nearly caused her to lose her grip on the plastic bag with her clothes. Mary opened her eyes, taking a moment to orient herself. She was looking straight up the side of the building, her four sets of claws sunk into the stucco exterior and her body pressed flat against the wall. "Wow," Mary thought, realizing she was back in control of her body more or less. "Well, any landing you can walk away from..." She mused as she used her claws to scale the last little bit of the wall, flopping over onto the roof. "Finally," Mary thought, opening her mouth and shaking the bag loose. "I've had about enough time flying for one lifetime. Let's get things back to normal." She willed herself human again, relieved to feel everything stretching and growing and getting back into place. Mary tore open the bag as soon as she had servicable fingers again, quickly dressing herself. "Okay, pants, shirt, underwear..." Mary said, glad to have amouth capable of speech again. "..aw, shoot!" She exclaimed, realizing she had fogotten to pack so much as a pair of socks for her feet. "Okay, no big deal, no one ever looks at people's shoes..." She said as she walked to the stairwell. Her shoe troubles were quickly forgotten, though, as she went to open the door and the knob jammed in place. A few experimental rattles confirmed that the door was locked. "Fabulous," Mary fumed as she looked around for some other way to get down. "Just fabulous." |
