Re: Doll transformation
Ah. I'd heard of a master in the horror genre who went by the name of Junji. So this is him, huh? He lives up to his title, I'll say that.

Re: Doll transformation
Actually, the more I think of it, it's a little hilarious. I mean, what do you suppose the thought process was for those parents?
"Our poor daughter has transmogrified into a wooden caricature!" "Well let's at least keep her around... after all, it can't get any worse." "Now her skin is breaking apart! It's awful!" "Awful! Let us hope her suffering is ended." "Her face is twisting into a horrific mockery and her limbs are elongating to uncertain proportions!" "Maybe if we squint it will be like nothing's wrong." "I think unholy tentacled horrors are birthing in her." "That might be nothing." "Should we burn her now? Her neck is lengthening and hideous insect-like legs are sprouting. And those tentacles aren't getting any smaller." "Now, now. I'd say she's rather picturesque once you get used to her. And burning is such a hassle." "Yes, but so is constantly vomiting from abject revulsion." "Give it time." "The smell isn't any great shakes either." "That's easily solved with air fresheners." "All the other parents are burning their kids." "Exactly! Everyone's doing it. Let's be unexpected!" "Seriously, I think it might be time to burn her. Every inch of her body is now an abhorrent writhing mass of alien biology." "I know! Maybe she'll keep changing until she turns back into a little girl!" "I don't think so. The parts are starting to detach from one another." "Oh dear. Hum. Well, maybe we should burn her after all." "But my show is on! Can't we do it later?" "Alright, later. Maybe we'll change our minds. In fact, let's sleep on it another few nights." "Okay. But not in the same room with it." "Oh Heavens no." Last edited by Case Scenario; 02-18-2010 at 04:21 PM. |

Re: Doll transformation
Maybe. Did he do Uzamaki, the one with the twisting people, the snail people and such? Or the other one with dead fish attached to mechanical spider legs?

But I digress, Junji Ito does do a lot of great and creative stories. I have an archive and purchased quite a few of his works. |

Re: Doll transformation
Guro refers to ero guro, an art movement that started in japan in the 20's and 30's involving erotic imagery. The term is usually incorrectly used by westerners to describe "gore" or horror from japan. The term however fits with modern hentai artists who uses pornography and horror/violence together. An example of a modern guro artist is Suehiro Maruo.

Pages four and five are clearly grotesque. If you put them in /f/ on Gurochan, people would probably find it erotic (if it's not there already). It's not a matter of whether the artist bills him or herself as a guro artist, but the merit of the content itself makes it fall under guro standards is what I'm saying. |
