Haha, I played with a guy yesterday who was using Mewtwo a lot. So for one match, I chose Mewtwo, too. We had a good time! Killed him with a deflected Shadow Ball after a little game of "tennis", lulz.

Apparently in the Japanese version of the game an update recently rolled out (it was not intended to go out as early as it did. The Update was meant to be held off until after their next announcement) that had the data for Roy and Ryu in it.
There were leaked videos, but Nintendo was quick to take it down via Copyright claims. It's legit (unlike the Rayman fake, actual gameplay is a LOT harder to fake than a simple character select screen) Ryu (oh, and Roy...) are coming to Smash Bros! There was even a live stream of someone playing as Ryu (they datamined/hacked the game to unlock him) but the saved broadcasts were also removed.


Update: Nintendo is doing a live Twitch stream for Smash Bros announcements right now. Will see if they officially announce these characters...

Ryu is probably the most unique character in the game right now.

Why?

Because other than the normal controls...you can play him exactly like in an actual Street Fighter game. By doing his classic button commands you do STRONGER versions of his attacks.

edit: Okay, the shop eventually calmed down enough that I could get in there and see what the big deal was. Ryu seems alright, he's pretty easy to control and I can see him being very annoying with that hurricane kick. Don't like Lucas at all though.

Huzzah! New content! DLC characters, stages, costumes, and more! Tourney mode coming this August and (hopefully) more info about the Smash Ballot coming soon! Also, Hyrule Castle and Mushroom Kingdom 64 will be returning stages in the near future!

I just find it weird that Nintendo is announcing new stuff at E3 like the instant it comes out. Like "Oh we've got all this new content for Smash coming out... NOW!"

Ryu was the guest fighter I wanted to see most, and he's even better than I'd hoped! I love that you can perform more powerful versions of his attacks by using the Street Fighter commands, and I'm glad they found a way to give him both Final Smashes. I couldn't decide which one of them I wanted Ryu to have. My only disappointment is that they didn't add as many Street Fighter tunes as I'd hoped. I would've liked to hear The Next Door, or a variation on the Street Fighter II title theme.

Lucas is... interesting this time around. I'm still way too adjusted to playing him like I did in Brawl, so I can't land spikes as consistently as I used to or use my old combos.

But the new DThrow, Improved Psi Magnet, and now the fact that WE ACTUALLY HAVE A FUCKING HITBOX ON ZAIR reeeeaally adds a lot to his game.

And the Balance Changes! I'm reading nothing but good shit for my mains. Charizard's Up-Throw is now an actual kill move! Zelda's Up Smash does more damage! So HYPE

I've come to the conclusion that I am not very good with Ryu. Also, I am in no way qualified to use the held-button attacks or the original inputs for the moves. Except maybe the Hadoukens...
