I recognize that style. It's from Kiss in The Dark's story site. http://ssb.sakura.ne.jp/top.html

Here's the actual page that picture is on: http://ssb.sakura.ne.jp/story/g-fix_ex02.html

Some other stories and pictures there, all in Japanese, but you can get the main gist of what's going on with a translator.
eg:"Poinsettia Girl" http://ssb.sakura.ne.jp/story/p_setia02.html, "Killer Dolls" http://ssb.sakura.ne.jp/story/kdolls02.html

I'd meant to reference that site since I think only the other Kiss in the Dark blog site (http://blog.livedoor.jp/g_than33mixer/) was listed in this thread. You can find the link to the other site there, but it's mixed in with all the other links.

Re: Evil conversion(for the lack for better term)

I started to translate them, but the author does something that I really hate: he writes sentences in katakana for the girls who aren't thinking for themselves.

The problem with this is that katakana is mainly used for foreign words and is untranslated. It's not uncommon to see a sentence where all three alphabets are represented. But when you remove kanji and hiragana from a sentence, it takes forever to try to translate it, especially when you don't actually know much Japanese. Hiragana would represent particles, prepositions, etc. between nouns and verbs, and Kanji would represent those verbs and nouns. When you take those out, the flow of a sentence is so hard to understand.

I got maybe the first half of part 2 of the octopus one done but I lost interest in it right about there.

that's why you just make it up.

haha the nice thing in doujins is that most of it is exclamations in hiragana... "ooooo" "ahhhhhh" "eeeee!!!"

That is definitely a headache for translators...I used to translate Short Stories and I did suffer from katakana talking. But it presents the non-human (or inorganic, robotic) characteristic really well.

My way to deal with this situation is to type them out accordingly first, and then tap space key to convert them. Sometimes you may get lucky when the sentence is just normal conversation without unique words.

That's the other thing I hate about translations. Translating moans and laughs and screams. It's so damn hard.

I don't think anyone has come up with a viable means to translate ふふふふ (fufufufu). It's a mouth-closed laugh and the "f" isn't even pronounced. The best I can think of is "heh", but that's not it either. SaHa just writes 'Fuh', which they get ridiculed for, but there's just no easy way to do it.

And I've ranted before about trying to translate TG material. When the man speaks using 僕 (male form of I) and then starts using あたし (female form of I), in English, it's still just "I". There's not much I can do to make this change of dialogue clear to the reader other than to dress up the sentence or change the color schemes.

tl;dr: damn you moonspeak

From a Korean site:

Sonic Soldier Borgman II: New Century 2058; hero's prissy sister turned into a baddie:

Dragon Quest Dai no Daiboken 34. A possession; not as good, MC, conversion or transformation-wise because it never seems as "real", but...

This looks interesting! Wish i could read japanese.

Does inoino's valkyrie have " white spray censors"? Because the editor doesn't want to have a manga scanlated if it have white spray censors.

Re: Evil conversion(for the lack for better term)

I don't know. I usually feel a bit let down once I finally get a translation...Hentai doujinshi nowadays always disintegrate into the same thing.

"Nooo don't look!"
and:
"Ohh ahhhh, I'm cumming!"

I want internal monologue or conflicts as the heroine is fighting the corruption, and a real personality change between the before and after. The whole 'I'm a hentai slut now' has gotten really old.

Then again I like hentai flicks with plot and action, (ie Urotsukidōji and Mahou Shoujo Ai original OVA) most times I end up fast-forwarding the sex scenes when I find them becoming redundant, unnecessary, cliche, or simply crappy...

Of course I'm narrow and biased in my interests. In Urotsuidōji I really only care to see sex scenes featuring Megumi, and in Ai...I only want to see Ai...(Granted with fewer extreme penetrations, body distortions, and Elmer's glue...)
