Occasional lurker, first time poster. I've noticed on this thread, several postings of "Urtha The Unstoppable" an OC I created and own (Manic makes his comics with my permission). I would like to add my own renderings to the group.

So just got back from seeing Elysium, good film, and figured I'd let you know there is a brief moment of race change at the start of the film. Apparently technology is so advanced that cosmetic surgery is as easy as a tanning bed and something you can do in your spare time if you have a minute. It shows a blonde woman laying down and the machine turning her into an Asian woman. It is actually in the trailer, somewhat. The actual scene is only a few seconds longer, but you see a more definitive change. Just a heads up.



It's at the 35 second mark. That part in the trailer is actually a mix of two completely separate scenes, so the woman isn't actually being cured of anything and the change is shown unbroken in the film.

Thats what gets me about these dystopian movies. Technology has advanced so much you can have such amazing devices, but the hoi polloi have access to nothing. You would think all the prototypes and prior models would have to end up somewhere.

In the real world, when a hospital replaces their x ray machine, they often sell the old one cheaply to someone else. You would think earth would have older devices situated somewhere, especially given the demand.

Demand is basicly the magic word here.
As long as someone is willing to pay for something, things will be sold for the maximum possible price. High Demand = High Price. No Demand = Low Price.

Right now technology is slow we haven't even built a real flying car like the jetsons.

yeah...we haven't......hope no one really believes that, we seriously have overly reliable electric cars that charge by the sun, and actually have over three flying car prototypes; know how many would sell due to peoples fear of both the sun and flying now; they would cost millions....there's your clue
