Re: Movie with plant/vine growth?

**Spoiler alert**

The vine invades their bodies and grows inside of them. They try to perform surgery on themselves but that doesn't do the trick, it keeps coming back worse. I hate to even tell anymore because it's just that good of a movie that I hate to ruin(Look I made a funny) it for you.

Heh, Phelous' review told a different story. Like most horror flics, relies too much on characters doing legendarily stupid things to move the plot forward.

http://thatguywiththeglasses.com/vid...5609-the-ruins All the good bits can be seen in the review if you don't mind having the whole plot spoiled.

Humans being human. They make mistakes, but the plant is so cunning that it creeps me out at times....

No, humans do not do emergency surgery on someone and then leave him to the mercy of the very thing that neccessitated it in the first place.

And seriously, what is with couples in movies having domestic disputes in the middle of life or death situations? You'd think that would be the last thing on people's minds at a time like that. -_-

Humans are irrational. In times of panic rarely is there a calm mind around that knows the best approach to the situation. Just look at the gulf oil disaster for instance.

As for the plant, it's mimicking technique sent chills up my spine.

That's just what happens when you trust politicians to run things. Now if the cast of these movies were made up of politicians, I would find them completely believable. ^^

The problem is, there's no explanation given for it whatsoever. They like it hype it up as "Ooh! mysterious!" but for me, it just reeks of lazy writing.

Every story is allowed one free MacGuffin. They keep the pace moving.

Re: Movie with plant/vine growth?

Tvtropes is one of those things that was so ridiculously hyped up that by the time I actually did look at it, I was completely desensitized and cared nothing for it.

The plant can't qualify as a McGuffin because it's role was too central. You couldn't replace it with something else and get the same story.

Re: Movie with plant/vine growth?

Oh that's too bad. I know what you are talking about with the hype though, the article quality has dropped steadily the past couple years because of the morons who want to seem snarky in their additions but lack the actual writing skill or intelligence to do so. If you had heard the best about it and came then, I can imagine you would be bored to tears.

Really I think as much as anything else considered a macguffin you could replace it, with mushroom colonies or slime molds or something, but I get your meaning.
