Anything but A. There might be stories where it works, but I've seen too many where it's just depressing to the extreme.

Not so. Consider the movie "Death becomes her". Two aging women have fought over the same man for years. The one he didn't marry drinks a potion to become young and beautiful, is pleased with the results, and tries to win him back. But then his wife gets a hold of the same potion, is equally pleased with the results, and the rivalry continues...

So far, very much E, and still plenty of room for conflicts.

(Some stuff happen after that that definitely puts the movie in the D category, but that's beside the point.)

Exception noted, most stories I've seen don't follow that rout though, they're "I wish I was ___, yay I'm ___" fin.

Wasn't that the movie where those two basicly become immortal and stayed only young as long as they had the potion? If yes the D-Part at the funeral in the end wasn?t cause of the potion but rather cause they lacked it at that time (Crushing into shards after falling down the stairs).

No, remember, the immortal lady told them to "take care of their bodies." They were both fatally wounded, but the potion kept them alive, even though the wounds caused them to rot.

Or at least that's what I got out of the movie.

And, if you're interested in conflict, what about E, along with someone evil trying to obtain the means of transformation?

Rot they did but not cause of the wounds.
I can?t find a scene on youtube to prove it but I'm damm sure they were both thrown out of the club and therefor denied the potion to stay young.
Plus one of them did fall in one scene down some stairs and get her head turned 180 but didn't shattered like in the scene in the link above.

Depends on how it's played out, just because a "villain" is added doesn't mean a real sense of conflict is created, particularly not with the tf.

And if the story is almost completely non-tf, I don't think it really fits with the question of the thread.

Re: Willing vs. Forced

I personally enjoy A the most, but only when it includes the mental change as well. Then again, I'm a big fan of D, especially when it comes to things like wishes and spells.
Wishing to be insanely attractive, yet not specifying the gender and having a greatly different result to the desired change is a definite favorite of mine.
