Re: Survival of the Smallest - Shrink Fan Comics
Ya know, RP, I understand your frustration with the open-ended nature of a lot of our comics right now. I do. But as a customer of the BE and Bimbo story clubs, I personally don't think the illustrated stories are all that great. Not only can I get a story damn near anywhere, but invariably there's at least one really good scene that I WANT an illustration of, but it just ain't there.
Stay tuned. Not going into specifics, but we do have some one-shots coming, and the continuation of a couple of our stories isn't too far behind that. :-)

Re: Survival of the Smallest - Shrink Fan Comics
I actually finally bought a subscription for this one, and Syryus's upcoming story. And so far I've liked most of these.
I have problems with Size Smashers... but this isn't the thread to complain about that one. :P But I look forward to the next release of this one. Personally... I wish she wasn't as tiny but that's a minor complaint on an otherwise nice story.

Thanks for the feedback and it makes me happy to hear that one of the reasons that you got a subscription was for this comic. Hopefully the next issue will go into production soon, also are you looking forward to One Extreme To Another?

But really I'm only attracted to a few for the art. Watch your tongue, though I hated the ending, survival of the smallest, who's the boss so far have been my favorite because of the art. I downloaded everything but I made the mistake of not reading size smashers first... it um... left a very bad taste in my mouth.

As for "Size Smashers" that is not a comic type I like. It is a good example why I don't like giantess fan comics. I tend to hate vore and crush and cruelty content in these types of comics. I see vore and crush and cruelty as horror elements. So I find it incompatible with giantess or shrinking women content. |

I haven't checked to see if there's a warning for that but seriously I'm glad I hadn't read that first or I'd probably have cancled my membership and never looked back. I personally feel, story wise, they're too short. Since it only takes like maybe 5 to 10 minutes to read the dialogue and get a sense of the story the art should be enough to keep my interest. My favorite S.W. stories, as I've gone on record, are Short Time and Chips by the same author. So I like my shrinking done over the course of the entire story not just a quick tiny woman or something like that. Like Drink Shrink was ok, but I'd read the story and thought it was better in that format than in pictures. I still like it... just not as much as the story format.

They are rather short. I suppose you could double the length. But that could mean double the time investment or more if there are problems. They could continue to make comics as they are and one long comic over say three months. That could be a solution to people wanting longer stories. I was spoiled by the-minimizer. The "Choose Your Own Shrink" story was my favorite. Slow or fast shrinking is just fine with me. I do think giving them useful feedback will help them improve their content. Got to remember the comic site its self is still young. |

Re: Survival of the Smallest - Shrink Fan Comics
Shorter is not necessarily bad...
I think the thing with the longer ones is that they come out and then it's month between installments. It might be beneficial if they keep the smaller ones and a few multiparts but tease at a completed story once a year. So take... um... One of Qz's stories. We get told xyz release date for shrinking at work, full cycle. The worst is you lose one artist for the duration of the project but then you've got, for those of us who want longer stories, a full story we don't have to keep coming back every few months to see if it's there yet. We know August 1st Shrinking at Work comes out. In the meantime we know that we've got 3 or 4 other stories that'll come out that'll be various lenghts between one shots and short serial. **shrugs** Probably a silly idea, but just a thought.

Re: Survival of the Smallest - Shrink Fan Comics
It's not so much that that's a bad idea, but--
Well, it's like this. When I wrote and submitted Small Fortune 1, I didn't have the rest of the parts written yet. Now, IWC's senior staff could have just sat on it until I finished all remaining parts, but that would involve a perfectly useable script gathering dust for who knows how long. And even if I had gotten all the pieces written and submitted in short order, they'd still have to pay the artist to do the entire thing before releasing it. That's not so bad if the comic is, say, two parts, but Giantess Fan has had ones that are four or five or even more. So they'd have to pay someone for sixty or seventy-five pages (or more) before they could see any return on investment. And even if that happened, what if part 1 was really poorly received and nobody cared about the rest? So yeah. Releasing a multi-part comic with all available pieces ready to roll is a nice idea in theory, but it's just not practical given the realities of the business model.

I understand the business end about why the longer stories come out in installments, but here's another valid point: If it were possible that a three-part story be released in three consecutive months, what happens to the members who don't care for that particular story? They have to wait a few more months for something new that will appeal to them. I don't so much mind the wait between installments for a story I love as long as it comes out and there's good stuff in between. So far, there has been A LOT of cool stuff at ShrinkFan. What I am most impressed with is the variety of artwork and storytelling. Obviously, we are all going to have our favorites, and I think the collection covers a lot of people's individual niches in this fantasy. There's been a lot of discussion on this thread about "Size Smashers", and although I'm not a fan of the violence (crush, vore, anal), I think the overall concept of SWs scaling a normal woman in a game-show format is kinda cool. I'm really excited about the next three comics because one of them is mine and the other two are tagged as slow shrink. And I'm excited for when "Small Fortune 2" eventually comes out. So I'm willing to see an occasional one that interests me less. On writing: I've written longer pieces of SW fiction (thanks, Janus, for the shout-outs on them!), but I find the 15-page comic format fun to explore some interesting one-shots that would work better visually than textually. I'm thrilled that the ShrinkFan brand exists and I can submit work to it, so they have my continued support.
