Re: 2 Text adventure games
I really wish he would've finished the single-player before he started spreading himself so thin. He was barely making steady progress with one project, with two it'll be terrible I'm betting. :/

Re: 2 Text adventure games
For what it's worth, it looks like a *lot* of the writing in the multiplayer was cut/paste from the single-player, and Nukuv *was* already getting huge amounts of help writing the single player; I imagine that he's getting a lot of help with the multiplayer. I'm seeing a lot of stuff being silently updated even while trying to play.
That being said, I have no idea if the multiplayer's going to be any fun to play. It has some interesting ideas, but it's astoundingly spammy even with all the public chat channels off, and buggier than a mattress made of weevils. |

Re: 2 Text adventure games
Well it is open beta, so how to expect some bugs. He is moving content from the single player and he is getting a lot of help from other members that play the game with new encounters and other such things coded and done up by other people.

Re: 2 Text adventure games
My only problem with the single player game is there's no way to constantly run into the mutant you wish to submit to. Let's take the drone for example, for ever one I run into I run into 3 hyenas, 4 panthers, 3 huskies, 2 wyvrens, and 3 dovermens before I run into one wasp again. Dirty water is also a fun little random factor...
However, I do really enjoy the game(I have slight problems with some mutations, but that's me and my personal taste), just wish there was a way to seek out certain things. Also, some of the earlier mutants like the latex fox don't feel as developed as some of the other later edition mutants like the panther. ... This game is giving me all sorts of weird new kinks...

Re: 2 Text adventure games
hunt <creature> greatly improves your odds of finding the creature you want, especially if you take the associated perks.

Also, your talk of dirty water does remind me: Since the single-player game is coded in Inform, you can abuse the 'undo' command if things aren't going your way. Wrong monster showed up? End combat and undo! Didn't get the mutation from dirty water you wanted? Undo! Lost a stat point from a mistake you just made? Undo! You can even undo multiple actions this way. Just take note that nearly everything is an action, including looking at yourself or your inventory. You might have to undo several times here and there. Seriously. Undo breaks the game. Hard. |

Ah, thank you both for that, I didn't know about the hunt command.

Re: 2 Text adventure games
Yea undo can make the game a lot easier. I think one guy managed to max out his level and stats by undoing submitting to the tentacle horror to get all the good stats it has. Then undoing when ever he got into a low xp giving fight.
