The onscreen pussy in the uncensored intro, they'd have to have seen that. If Funimation never saw even a preview of the intro before signing a contract to dub and broadcast this then they done fucked up. Someone surely got fired for approving a new show without finding out what was going to be in it. Not checking with the studio that produces it to see what's coming? Bad move. Not checking that the show meets with their standards well ahead of time? Bad move. Not even looking at the full uncut intro? Bad move. I'm sure they regret all of that, but ep 3 killed the whole thing. It just became a hentai at that point.

This whole mess will probably kill the idea of them doing simuldubs in the future. After mistakenly picking up a porn they're either going to get super strict with their vetting (which they always should have been to avoid this) or ditch simuldubbing as a practice, only dubbing things once the entire season has aired in Japan.

It won't kill anything as at least 3 of their simuldubs have television deals as well. I speculate that the show might have fun afoul of amazon, apple or one of the retailers though, especially given that Apple delisted hidive(sentai filmworks app) for less. They also sell the individual episodes on the services, so I think they may have raised the stink. The show doesn't air uncut in Japan until a week or two after the regular episode airs, afaik, it airs on 2 different services there. Funimation gets the first version now and the uncut materials further down the road.
