Re: Fiction Branches Storyline
The reason why I posted these though was to try and get people to come and contribute to it to make it an awesome process. Just need the people to come help make this happen which is why I'm posting it.

Re: Fiction Branches Storyline
This is one of the more complete and elaborate plotlines in YAWYW, but it's also one of the ones that showcases just how messed up fiction branches has been getting. Everyone and everything is broken down into stereotypes and blatant racism. It's all Jocks and Cheerleaders and that kind of bland unoriginal BS.
Then there's the blatant racism, with racial transformations resulting in characters turning into black women who have to talk in ebonics or crap like that. Last edited by Kyrex; 04-09-2010 at 06:41 PM. |

Re: Fiction Branches Storyline
I don't think you understand.
Some people (like me) are turned on by blatant stereotypes. A guy becoming a normal girl but with gender dysphoria is boring to me. And I don't think you got the point of that one storyline. The point WAS that the way he was acting was totally different from how a real black person would act. The author wasn't suggesting that it was representative of reality. To use an analogy: when you read a bimbo tg story, do you bitch about stereotypes and think the author is implying all women are like that? |

Re: Fiction Branches Storyline
I suppose the context of my first post didn't give it away, but I don't like bimbo TG either.
Now, I never said that the author(s) who write and post that kind of thing are saying that all women or all African Americans in this case, were like that. I'm not sure where you got that from, honestly. My complaint is that stereotypical cliches in general make for poor characters and are often a sign of poor writing. Not to say that all stories that rely on them are bad, but it's been done to death and it's just boring to me. This character is a nerd, so he'll be fat and like star trek. This character is a cheerleader, so she'll be a haughty bitch. This character is a jock so he'll be a musclebound bully. Yes, there are people who are exactly like that, but everyone else in the world is a bit more complex and complex characters with personalities are a great deal more interesting to read about than cardboard cut-outs. |
