Stop bringing back dead threads! It clutters everything up.

I kind of agree with Fake_Name, in one sense - sometimes people bring up long-dead threads simply to make a throwaway comment ("Hell yeah!"), which then moves the thread up to the top where it just takes up space for a week or two until it gets shunted off the front page.

I think there have been some re-bumps of value (example is that original Saizou thread, because it was AFTER it was bumped that you started doing your "translation"), but for the most part it's people sifting through the archives who haven't been around. They want their say, which is fine in spirit, but unless it adds something qualitative, since it's no longer topical it's just taking up space.

So let me get this right, you do not want people to post at all on threads that are not at the top of the page. I believe that you should have the freedom to post. I believe that you the people should have the freedom to post where and whenever you like. As long as you can reply to the thread, it is not dead. Plus it always is fun to look at things that people could have missed, instead of it getting posted again.

Of course I am always happy to be complimented on my finds. ^_~

But I don't want this thread filled with a debate of who should post and why not. You are doing worst than their compliments by taking up space on why they should not speak their minds and thank someone.

Speaking your mind is all well and good, but I also agree with Fake Name and Kyu. If you're a relatively new poster and want to look at the old threads to see what you've missed, fine, but if you aren't going to add anything constructive to the topic, why bother posting when its obvious that people are going to complain about bringing back 'dead' topics? For example: This one.

In this case, the thread was brought back cause someone decided to add this:

That does NOT qualify as a intelligent comment. It is definitely not worth even posting when the thread was still fresh, let alone posting it a month after the thread was created.

I have enough issues with thins kind of thing when it's on a recent topic.

And because you decided to make something big out of that small comment, another whole page is filled with this discussion.

BTW. HEAVY METAL RULES!!!
