This may be the end of Volume #1 but Funky Spice is far from Over. The author has to go spend some time in real life, Like Jerome (Jay) he will be traveling abroad and dealing with some personal and professional changes that will be, hopefully, for the best.

You can expect new issues of Funky Spice (Vol. #2) coming up in the fall of 2013. It is not yet decided if the next volume will be 32 multi-panel pages per issue or full frame story telling. One thing is for sure: Jennifer will be in the spotlight while Jay is away. (And you can expect her to keep on growing!)

Please, leave a comment and tell me how you liked or disliked the first volume and what are your expectations for the sequel. Both story wise and regarding the format.

Well I hope you don't skimp on the shrinking. She's adorable. I enjoy these role reversal sort of scenarios, the big sister becoming the little sister and so forth... And I especially like that Cori is reacting realistically to her condition. Too many vignettes have everyone being either happy or just mildly annoyed with some extraordinary transformation. I wonder if they really will change back?

It makes a nice change of pace sometimes in these stories when there isn't an easy fix and not everybody winds up happy in the end, instead having to deal with drastically altered lifestyles. I always find that more engaging for some reason. Pat resolutions bug me.

By the way, Snotling (nice moniker by the way), have you considered revising your word balloons? The pictures seem much too nice for those utilitarian rectangles and dry text. I would suggest rounded balloons with thicker borders and thinner, curving tails, and perhaps a sturdier font, like Laffayette Comic Pro or Action Figure. It might be more pleasing to the eye.

so far, the balloons from PowerPoint, while they may not be the prettiest have a whole lot of advantages from a workflow perspective. they are also a big improvement from what I used in the past... also, round balloons waste more space and hide more of the picture than the rectangle ones. Especially when the story goes through a text heavy panel.
