I don't know if I want to see John Hurt as the Doctor for a full season, but I DO hope he's not just in like two episodes. I want to know the one that broke the promise. That was the most exciting thing that happened in Series 7, at least for me. I sure hope they don't break the series up again, to me that really hurt the show.

OOOOOoooooooooooooo.

See, I remember Hartnell, the grouchy of bugger that was the First Doctor. I can see Hurt recapturing that aspect of it all.

It was such a FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF TEASE when they had Derek Jacobi play The Master for such a short time!!

LOL The First Doctor was such a jerk! I've seen some of his episodes and I just can't help but think of how greatly he's changed over the years.

Exactly!! Hartnell was not some heartthrob and tended to tell folks what utter pillocks they were in a regular basis. Without the sugar coating!!

For us grouchy old bugger types, he was and is an icon.

LOL well I don't want him to return to the First Doctor's levels, but perhaps a bit more of a curmudgeonly doctor would be fun

Re: Goodbye for now

LOL I never saw any of the new Doctors as emos or hearthrobs. Tennant might have been a good looking guy but I think that the character just ended up being attractive. It reminds me of an episode of "You're the Weakest Link" where they had the Doctor Who cast on for charity. The host asks Tennant "Was it your idea to make the Doctor sexy?" and I don't really think it was.

I would like to see a little bit more done with the Time War, but I'd actually like to have a few other Time Lords come back and be something the Doctor can either fight against or perhaps some that he can go and visit or something. I wouldn't even mind Gallifrey returning now, I think it could refresh the new series some.

Re: Goodbye for now

Haha I would get that more from 9 than 10 actually. They're both really reeling still from the Time War, but I saw 10 as someone that was starting to go away from that. He was the bright light to 9's darkness, not to sound too much like a teen blogger. Ten never really got depressed until he lost Martha. Cause with her, she wasn't dead or displaced or locked in time somewhere, she was there but not "there." After all that I could see where he was beginning to become more depressed. 11 seems to really dislike himself, although I think that started changing around series 6. His disposition seems to have improved right towards the end where 10's degraded more towards the end.

NOOOOOOO 9..., Eccleston, reminds me of the blokes I knew, growing up. Apt to slam their heads into the wall for grins.

10 always had those far-away puppy eyes and, once he lost Rose (ugh on Rose...sorry), it seemed like he was the sad, emo lover, to me.

Re: Goodbye for now

Rose's loss hit him hard, just as hard as Amy and Rory hit 11. Still, he tried to make the best of it. Sure, he never quite got over Rose, but he went on and moved forward. Him dropping her off in Pete's World with the Meta Crisis Doctor showed that he really was moving on and that he wasn't ready to be with Rose again. The only time that he really seemed "emo" was when he was about to regenerate, and that had a bit of an understanding to it, because after all he was about to become someone else, even though he'd still be him.
