Re: Ant-Man Movie

I was sort of hoping Ant man would have Pym, guilt ridden for creating Ultron, become Ant Man in a sort of retribution sort of move.

Re: Ant-Man Movie

My prediction for the Ant-Man movie will be something akin to Watchmen, in how you have the older generation (Pym) passing the mantle to the next (Lang). And I base this on the interview Edgar Wright gave a long time ago while talking about this movie.

Also, it just dawned on me that we may end up seeing a lot of CGI creepy-crawlies on the big screen...and I will be squirming in my seat for every second it.

Even if Wright hadn't expressed the idea, I can't see them hanging onto Michael Douglas for anything more than a few guest drop-ins after this. Post AM, Lang, played by a younger actor, is going to be carrying the torch guaranteed.

Oh, no doubt about that. I mean, I was apprehensive about the casting choice, but then, I can't recall seeing too many movies with Douglas (or even Paul Rudd, for that matter).

Re: Ant-Man Movie

We may finally have a Wasp...with a catch:

http://screenrant.com/ant-man-marvel...ne-lilly-cast/

I'm just copying and pasting my reaction I wrote at Min's here. Take it fo what you will, but something's not quite right about this, SW or otherwise.

-I frankly don't know who she is - I never saw Lost and didn't get to see Hobbit 2 so her acting and notoriety escape me. Worse though is the thought that she's getting the part because "OMG she was female Link in Hobbit! That means she's popular (as in she showed up recently somewhere)!" That's almost as bad as giving the role to Rashida because she's connected to Rudd - nepotism and market-based casting over specific ability. I'm not even 100% on board with Rudd - at least Douglas has a defined, understandable reason for being there, which brings me to my next point:

-Changing canon means a lot of details I'm very leery of - Pym will most likely not return and he's considered a Marvel mainstay; Lang is sticking around even though he doesn't have the genius or inferiority-complex of Pym that would make for an interesting sustainable character (spousal abuse disregarded of course) - unless he's given something really interesting to do, he's just another "average guy" superhero (white, brunette, 30-something, etc.); we're getting a "dad doesn't like the guy his daughter is hanging out with" plot line...no thanks. Plus, rumor (based on a thread post from the link) is that the villains will be Whirlwind and Equinox (fire and ice) - the elemental coupling is cute, but it means we're likely not getting a supervillain plot to shrink a city.

-Risky just in its outline (can as shrinking hero movie find success?), editing canon this much when fans were grumbling that these two A) Didn't form the Avengers B) Have nothing to do with Ultron (that we know at the moment anyway), coupled with fatigue as this thing comes out barely 2 months after Avengers 2, is going to put this whole thing on much thinner ice. You want mainstream interest in shrinking? Good luck not getting burned as you try to find it in the flaming wreckage this thing is going to be at the box office.

Re: Ant-Man Movie

I'm with you in that I'm not familiar with the actress nor her body of work. That said, I'm indifferent about this potential casting. If anything, I do hope she's wearing a costume similar to the one featured in the image next to the actress's photo. Or, maybe a combination of that and the current costume, with the helmet.
