Re: Being human syfy s.4 is a big disappointment.
The Uk version of being human had the exact same issue, the character development got so stagnant at the end of the series they literally killed them off and straight up replaced the main characters with younger versions to keep the series going without having to retool and relaunch a new series and keep the existing audience. They went as far as almost reversing the 3 main characters personalities to reenergize the series
Vampire went from badboy to this uptight british guy Ghost went from mousey librarian to sexy hipster girl Werewolf went from bookworm nerd guy to more streetwise guy |

Though the hope for another decent TF died last season, I'll miss Being Human as a guilty pleasure. I think the acting was largely decent, and the show managed to be entertaining despite the gaping flaw of plainly never planning their plots ahead...at all. Which led to what was mentioned above about the characters wildly swinging around in terms of motivations et al.

Re: Being human syfy s.4 is a big disappointment.
So, despite all logic to the contrary, I kinda feel like they are screwing with us in the last episode. SPOILERS ahead for those that care.
So Sally goes back in time and ends up saving herself. A bunch of stuff happens and she hooks up with Aiden. It gets interesting after that because on the full moon before Josh changes Nora, they almost have sex, similarly to how he did the day after the full moon in the other timeline. Instead, Sally breaks in on them, and helps Josh get to the basement, but not without getting scratched herself. New female werewolf, right? Yeah, but the creators never bother to really show it (showing and not telling is one of the basics of storywriting and I don't know how they have completely forgotten that). Two full moons go by and we don't see anything from Sally other than a scene of her taking her shirt off with Josh in the woods. This was especially disheartening because Josh was building up how being a werewolf changes you mentally, and Sally was mocking how painful the change would be, and we don't get a scream or a morning after scene, or anything. Sally's character also goes largely unchanged. On top of this, the night that Josh infects Sally, he actually has a REALLY impressive transformation (claws, teeth, shirt bursting, muzzle growth), so it wasn't like they didn't have money to show at least some of Sally's change. Here's hoping for some extras on the DVD. |

In terms of female TF, this show is disappointing. But the writing is as good as it was in the first season.

I mostly agree about the writing (though I do take issue with how 99% of the female characters have been written), but I complete disagree with the TF content being disappointing. While they have definitely missed a lot of opportunities in this season, they've also had two of the top non-fetish, female werewolf transformations in previous seasons. Nora's change was probably the best until Bitten.
