With the artist we'd originally had in mind for the main story, it would have been around $75 a page for inks (although they've now kind of pulled out of the market, our second choice would be $100 a page).

Add colour for that, and the additional drawn comics (+ a few illustrations). Well, as you can work out it's not cheap. We'd thought that over the years we might have been able to do it in increments, but it's never really worked out. C'est la vie

I work with Poser myself, but I'd be willing to contribute to this idea if you'd like.

It's a combined factor of a general resistance amongst the community towards paying for content (which is why it would have had to have been top line artists, people like HMB or PortalComic), and the secondary factor of once you start taking in peoples money on something like a kickstarter basis it adds not only on a personal stress level as far as delivery goes but it creates a legal one.

As long as it's pink was initially going to go up as a £3 PDF on something like lulu press with a potential hand printed run of physical copies at a higher price with written notes and sketches and stuff in - and when that was initially planned out that was something that was actually feasible from a financial perspective (even taking in to account that we'd probably be making a decent loss on it since it'd just be something that really cool to do) but it's in the total pipedream territory now.

Allow me to throw my name in the hat as well. This sounds like a fun project!

Other than that, I'd like to say that my personal experience is that people "in these circles" are actually more than willing to pay for content they like. Some of my sequences on Gumroad are pay-what-you-want and I've been pleasantly surprised at how many people actually change that little "0" to something higher. It's been a steady trickle over several months, but I've made more money off "Beware of Birthday Vodka" by giving it away for free than if I had charged it as a commission.

I'm not living off my art (yet), but my experience so far has definitely been encouraging.
