Re: Laundry Day - Shrink Fan Comics
That's a little bit extreme, DE. Granted the very nature of shrinking as a TF makes it gravitate naturally towards power-play, but I think it more has to do with more people starting to recognize how fucked up those kinds of stories are. It's not just in fetish art/stories but in media in general. Depicting rape isn't treated with the same flippancy as it was 10, even 5 years ago.

Personally I don't want to see this comic continue, I don't need to read a story about how "Despite being the size of a doll and raped multiple times, she escaped and/or did poetic justice by making Nancie also small." I would rather just not have the comic of the month have heavy themes of rape in it. If it was a bonus comic it might be different, but I am very upset at how these themes keep coming up again and again in the SW community and I would prefer that we move away from having themes of sexual assault and torture porn in our content. I'm not asking for PG only content. I'm asking that non-con and non-enjoyment not be a big part of the community. With Shrink Fan Comics, nearly all of it's comics are about the person shrinking being shrunk against their consent, and further, being under the threat of further non-consent. Heck, Laundry Day, Tinier Treatment, Size Smashers, and Small Justice are some of the biggest issues. But if you go down the list, only 11 out of 74 comics have the one shrinking giving consent the whole time. And 2 of those are just continuations from a previous Comic! I think this is my biggest issue with the fandom. I love shrinking, but I love it as the one who shrinks. And I want consent. It's not a hard concept. It's how healthy relationships work. |

I agree that surrender to despair is not fun. Shrinking as the call to adventure in the hero's journey is my favorite. I've been in kind of a funk lately, maybe we should try writing.

You're mistaking the Hero's Journey, which is a staple of media, to consensual sex. I'm asking that the one shrinking desire it, or at the very least, not be forced against their expressed will. I understand some people like shrinking with the "poetic justice" or just "get one's just deserts" theme. 32 of the comics are explicit in that it's done to either control someone or as a punishment. I think that there is a much broader story to be made then rehashing the "Shrinking as a punishment" or using it to have direct power over someone. One of the best comics recently was "A sneak Peak" and while I was not a fan of it for the hetero love, I really enjoyed the story itself where the shrinking was used as a tool for fun. "The Little things in Life" and "Life Diminished" were also great stories, especially "Life Diminished" where it followed the slice of life of a woman living with her reduction as one might in a normal situation brought smaller. "Micro Gravity" also used shrinking as a tool to get a job done and "Clearance Sale: Every Inch Must Go", while originally a mistake, was altered into a later willing (by everyone but the first and last participants) reduction as a fashion fad. Even "Witches Gone wild" and "Invisible Girl" had positive views on shrinking where the later was a seemingly biological process that was a natural thing to occur, extreme smallness aside. These are good stories that use shrinking as a plot device and a central conflict that don't use shrinking as a crutch to inflict punishment or the threat of explicit harm to the characters. They are an adventure to read and show that stories don't need rape and sexual assault, or threat of, to be a good read. Last edited by Doll-Elf; 03-04-2022 at 09:49 PM. |

Re: Laundry Day - Shrink Fan Comics
I agree with you about a few things. I'm not a big fan of vengeance or "she deserved it" as I read that as the author making up an excuse for cruelty. On the other hand, I don't much like explicit sex - I'd prefer to have the two look into each other's eyes and have the narrative tastefully cut away.
================== You know I just realized I HAVE written a consensual shrinking story. At least a premise. It was called "Star Trek: Rascal Crew". The crew had to agree to be shrunk to fit in their ship. (Which could teleport anywhere in the galaxy instantly.) They agreed to that because the mission was supposed to be to survey unmanned planets where they would never encounter full sized people. Instead the mission got changed and they were constantly stuck dealing with full sized people. It could work as either shrinking or AR. I'd been picturing it as a sort of blended chibi state. I found it: http://www.process-productions.com/f...ad.php?t=34484

Re: Laundry Day - Shrink Fan Comics
As weird as it may sound, all this talk of unwillingness to be shrunk may have given me an idea for a story, one that shows both the positice and negative sides of being shrunken. Problem is, said idea has an... admittedly weird premise, so I don't know if it would work out.

Re: Laundry Day - Shrink Fan Comics
Well, it's just an idea, but remember SCP Foundation? It's basically that, but with shrunken women instead of... whatever the heck SCP has come up with. Seriously, some of those stories are REALLY weird...
It's still pretty early, though. Like, I have an idea for how I want it to go, but I don't quite know how to tell it, if that makes any sense. |

Re: Laundry Day - Shrink Fan Comics
I like how the SCP foundation is written. Some of the stories are quite interesting. But most of it is dedicated to squik and horror that I don't like. Another "world" that wasn't so awful would be nice.

Re: Laundry Day - Shrink Fan Comics
Well, I should warn you there probably will be SOME dark elements. Like I said, this is meant to show both the positive and the negative side of shrinking. That being said, I am physically incapable of writing a story that's 100% serious 100% of the time, so it probably won't be TOO common.

Re: Laundry Day - Shrink Fan Comics
Some darkness is necessary in most stories. It was just too much for me.

Re: Laundry Day - Shrink Fan Comics
There's certainly ways to do unwilling shrinking while keeping it less rapey. The character doesn't have to be entirely helpless after their shrinking. Having them adapt or even thrive at tiny size works well, and usually leaves plenty of room for fun borrower shenanigans or sexy situations.
