The only way I can think of to show that a mermaid is rollerblading would be if she had humanoid legs but possibly covered in scales.

Actually, the main problem with the mermaid is the very human loik of the upper part. I'm scared to fall into the uncanny valey...

Looks nice, which application(s) are you using for it? Since you do this at work, did you get a license of c4d, maya, 3dmax,... for personal use or do you use Blender with plugins or something like that?

Actually, I'm on XSI, but I'll have to switch to Maya because XSI have been cancelled this year! :-(

Technically, you can do exactly the same thing on Maya, but the interface sucks! Lol!
