More likely you've never heard of it because there are hundreds of Anime series and unless your a hard core otaku you are probably only are aware of the ones that get dubbed

I take the lazy route and just subscribe to a few dozen anime review blogs. Let them watch the 100s of anime, I'll just read the cliff notes in case there is anything interesting.
