'American comics' is such a ridiculously wide spectrum though, I mean even just comparing the kind of comics companies like IDW, KaBOOM, Image, even Darkhorse are running in comparison to Marvel or DC (which admittedly I've lost a lot of interest in recently) they're vastly different properties and stories. It's the equivalency of saying "I hate all Japanese animation", hyperbole to the nth.

Objectively I have to agree it was a generalized statement since Marvel/DC are the big guns, although although even the side companies have hit the reset button with their stuff these days (ie witchblade, i understand they rebooted the world)..... Maybe its due to availability/price but I have pretty much abandoned western printed comics for just manga/web comics since I only have worry about a bunch of alternate universes/crossovers/etc/rip off their own story in an 'alternate world' scene for scene.

As much crap as they are given Final Fantasy does one thing right, when they want to reuse the same world they at least remake it with new characters/story (for better or worse)

A lot of comics seem to have editors and writers who get a fanboyish excitement about ideas or re-imaginings and conduct them with little continuity or follow through.

"Decompression", lowering the amount of content in comics, is annoying too, there's often hardly any story in many issues I flick through these days, just some wordy posturing leading to the monthly cliff-hanger.
