Re: Female Werewolf needles in a haystack
Apparently there used to be a teaser trailer on the old indie-gogo page but they took it down. From what I read there was some transformation tease and both a PG-13 version and an R rated version. Dang.
Here's the cached version of their vimeo page showing what used to be there: https://webcache.googleusercontent.c...&ct=clnk&gl=us Last edited by actionmang; 01-28-2017 at 12:10 PM. |

Re: Female Werewolf needles in a haystack
If they posted those old teasers I might consider contributing to Betsy but right now I don't feel like I know very well what I'm getting... I'll keep an eye on them in case more info is provided.

In case people didn’t have the time or want to comb through nearly 2 hours of old FB videos about the production, I did the homework and came away with the following “juicy” details: 1) The movie will feature three (and possibly four) transformations, but the first two will be very minor to the point where some audience members would think she’s turning into a demon or something. (This sort of explains the early werewolf design in the teaser trailers.) The last TF during the full moon will be the "big one." 2) The director/writer was most influenced by “AWIL” (natch), “The Monster Squad,” “Silver Bullet,” and “Wolf.” Judging from my username on this board, it’s obvious I was disappointed he didn’t mention “The Howling” (honestly, that was quite baffling; how do you mention “The Monster Squad” and “Silver Bullet” before “The Howling”?). However, an actor/producer of the movie in a different video cited “The Howling” as one of the influences. 3) This movie will have “80% practical effects and the rest CGI” for what they couldn’t do practically. Needless to say, they’re stretching the indie budget as far as possible to get the most effects shots they can. They cast the actress’ face and even bought a mannequin to show changes to her body. If I hear anything else (like seeing the trailers), I’ll update this board with more info. (I won’t post the trailer though if I’m not allowed.) But remember, if you want to be one of the first people to see the movie and TFs, you need to invest now. The writer/director stated it could take a long time to find a proper distribution company for this movie, and sorry, but I’m not posting the TF when the movie gets released to investors. In the meantime, I’m posting a few photos of the actress (I found them on her modeling website) who will undergo the transformation in hopes of “priming the pump” and getting more investors. Seriously, she’s gorgeous. |

Re: Female Werewolf needles in a haystack
Fuck it I threw my money in it sounds like most of the movie is pretty much closer to being done and they just trying to add more to it. So here we go I can't wait hell if I didn't get to see the trailer even some storyboard pics would suffice! lol

Re: Female Werewolf needles in a haystack
A few updates on “Betsy”: Some of you may already know this, but it’s now fully funded (more than the goal, actually), but obviously, the more money they get, the better the FX in the TF scene will be, so if you’re still sitting on the fence, now’s the time to help back this movie, since there’s only a few days left. As I mentioned before, the director said it might take a long time to get proper distribution for this film, so if you want to be one of the first to see the film and TFs, you should think about contributing. (Backers are supposed to get the Blu-ray or DVD in June.) Also, the writer/director finally got back to me and told me the reason why the teaser trailers and behind-the-scenes footage were removed was because the original lead actress dropped out of the production, but I think of this as a good thing since the replacement actress Kelci (see photos above) is, imo, much more attractive. Also, I don’t mind a tattoo here and there, but the original actress’ chest was completely covered in tattoos, which was a turn-off for me. (To quote Tina Fey from “SNL,” she looked like “the dirtbag’s technology notebook in high school” with all those doodlings, lol.)
Anyway, we all know how rare it is to find a project like “Betsy” (thanks again to littlegreenboggart for the original link), so if you care about a live-action movie starring a female werewolf played by a gorgeous woman who will feature in a transformation scene with mostly practical effects (and if you’re reading this board, the answer should be “Yes”), then the time to contribute is now. https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/b...wolf-feature#/ Last edited by howlingfan; 01-31-2017 at 08:16 AM. |

Someone should make a separate thread for this kind of discussion.
It doesn't bother me or anything, but I always thought that this one was more about sharing information on existing content. |

Re: Female Werewolf needles in a haystack
I just wish that these movie makers who want our money for films would spend some money that they put into a 10 second blackscreen spooky music trailer with red bloody implied font into some practical effect to give us an idea of the quality of their work and some webcam footage of them, its not that expensive to do some prosthetics and fur work for even a still or show that the actresses are on board fully and some commitment.
Like when anthony brownrigg did the freeborn movie there was at least some effects in the "trailer" and even a short film(with no effects at all other than the actress growling behind a door), too bad he took the money that was donated and ran with it, then months later posting vauge responses that he was "busy" with other stuff and hes dissapeared off this board and furaffinity/deviantart. |

Re: Female Werewolf needles in a haystack
On a point of my last post to the writers of these movies....you are coming to us as "investors" and investors expect a return on their capitol, its not to give you spending money for a hobby or so you can buy new electronics gear so you can take photos of sunsets, so many of these "crowdfunded" projects seem to end in the writers saying "oops we used up all the money on outlay for equipment or a workspace and can't make the movie now".
If your a media professional you should have equipment already and what money you get from us is for supplies to do makeup and pay actors....you don't hire a roofing company and be expected to buy all their ladders and hammers on top of the labour and supplies to do the work. |

Re: Female Werewolf needles in a haystack
I mean, you outright mention that Brownrigg did exactly what you're asking for and then ran off with the money and produced nothing of value. The people looking for money for Betsy have produced films before in a timely fashion which is very much to their credit. Though they haven't shown an updated trailer you can expect to receive some sort of product out of this just as a matter of their reputation and surprisingly extensive filmography so far. Now whether or not the content will be of interest to the members of this board is a different matter entirely.

Re: Female Werewolf needles in a haystack
Thats true, if the studio is reputable enough that they have produced other works than its a safer bet, it may be more accurate to say that the studios would be a safer bet to invest in rather than just some guy with a short story he wrote and portrays himself as a professional

As for actresses showing commitment, if you view the pitch video on the Indiegogo page, you’ll see a short clip of the actress who plays the titular she-wolf say how “freakin’ excited” she is to work with the writer/director again and also how important it is to have the best special effects for a movie such as this, and because she’s starred in numerous indie horror movies before, I don’t believe she was referring to the fact that this is simply a horror movie but specifically a werewolf movie, since a werewolf movie (or at least a good one) requires a standout transformation sequence. As for Brownrigg, I wasn’t the only one who lost money on that project, and, to echo what someone else on here once said, “At best, he’s incompetent; at worst, he was a conman.” I think the truth is somewhere in-between. But seriously, asking for 1 million dollars for a low-budget indie film and then $20K for one TF scene was overambitious, to put it nicely. I can understand $100K for the film and maybe $5K for the TF scene, which btw, he almost raised, but will that scene ever see the light of day (besides the script page)? That remains to be seen, but I wouldn’t hold your breath. Last edited by howlingfan; 02-07-2017 at 12:16 PM. |

Re: Female Werewolf needles in a haystack
At the risk of annoying that one guy who said all the posts about the movie “Betsy” should have their own thread (I don’t know how to do that save copying and posting all those messages into a new thread, and I’m too lazy for that), I have a small update about the movie. The writer/director just posted a short video on the film’s official Facebook page saying that if they reach a goal of $1,500 (their original goal was $1,000), everyone who bought a DVD or Blu-ray will get an upgrade to a Blu-ray/DVD combo pack. They’re only a few hundred away from that new goal so if you’re on the fence, now’s the time to contribute, as the campaign has less than a day to go. And because it’s almost over, this should be my last post about “Betsy” for a while unless there’s some major update, which probably won’t happen very soon.
