The guy lives in his own world. I'm convinced he's heavily medicated, accesses the internet through an old cellphone and isn't supposed to leave the hospital unsupervised. Don't ask him to explain himself, once you start questioning his imaginary world he ignores you because he can't deal with that. So don't ever expect an answer to anything you've said to him.
