Re: Transformations That I Found While Searching
It looks like in one scene she fantasizes a room full of people all turning into different farm animals:
Donkey woman: http://psychexfutureheart.files.word.../06/yellow.jpg Chicken woman: http://psychexfutureheart.files.word...ow-chicken.jpg Pig man and goat woman: http://psychexfutureheart.files.word...yellow-pig.jpg Since this isn’t on video yet, I haven’t watched it, and don’t know if there’s any process to it. |

Re: Transformations That I Found While Searching
I don’t know, but most reviews seem to describe the transformation in the present tense, so the scene is likely to start with them as humans and end with them as animals. But probably, given what we’ve seen of the makeup application, the main character will just look away from someone and when she looks back, she sees them as half-animal, and then looks away again, and they’re completely an animal. So process-off-camera. Hopefully they at least spend a few minutes in the makeup – they did a really good job on it.
Some of the descriptions of the scene: http://2012.tiff-jp.net/news/en/?p=4264 Cassavetes: The dinner scene where the family members turn into farm animals… that is my family. http://articles.orlandosentinel.com/...c-film-reviews But that's hardly the chief absurdity of a prefab cult film wherein white-trash family members morph into farm animals at the dinner table. http://www.reelfilm.com/tiff1209.htm Cassevetes' off-the-wall sensibilities (eg an argument is presented as a stage play, family members morph into talking animals, Mary interacts with cartoon characters, etc, etc) And the source of those three pictures: http://thefutureheart.com/2011/06/22/yellow/ On the set of Yellow everyone's turning into farm animals… And then REAL farm animals!!! http://twitvid.com/G1FTL |

Oh man these are a great find indeed! Even if it's a quick sequence, they are putting some pretty cool effort into the makeup effects! Can't wait to see how this turned out.

Re: Transformations That I Found While Searching
I'll add a snippet from the vfx company onto that that further describes it as a present tense transformation.
"Another challenge was the dinner sequence," Michael continued, "which involved extensive head extensions and replacements to convey the drug visions of the main character, who sees her family turn into a bunch of animals. Technically, we needed to seamlessly match fur to live action prosthetics, and creatively we had to find the balance between realistic integration and visualization of the drug visions." http://www.primefocusworld.com/yellow/ |

Re: Transformations That I Found While Searching
That explains the motion capture dots on the donkey woman's face. Another interesting thing to note is that in the pic of the chicken woman, there are quite a few place settings at the dinner table so it appears that the scene has the potential to feature a number of different animals.
This is sounding really promising! Last edited by mysteryman29; 03-23-2014 at 07:17 PM. |

Re: Transformations That I Found While Searching
No problem! I'm really interested to see this too.
On December 11, 2013 Medient (the distribution company) said this "Yellow is currently doing the rounds at films festivals everywhere and receiving an amazing response. We know you are all excited and we will be sure to keep you all updated with the release date." So hopefully a DVD should be coming sometime in the near future. Let's hope! |

Re: Transformations That I Found While Searching
There’s a ‘behind the scenes’ video of them filming the ‘Yellow’ dinner party scene -
Very little of it is actual filming – mostly just crew and actors milling around between takes. The chicken woman is on the near left side of the table, and the goat woman and pig man are on the far right side. The donkey woman is on the near right, across from the chicken (there’s a good view of the whole table at 3:16, and the donkey woman brays for the cameraman between takes at 3:25). A woman that is made up to be a sheep walks by at 3:43 and 5:10. The camera swings by the goat woman at 4:58 and 5:18, and she has hooves for hands. At 5:58, the camera moves back to where they have real chickens in pens, perhaps for later in the scene. You get the first clear view of the chicken woman fifteen seconds in (the sheep is walking behind her side of the table), and hear characters bleeting (1:45) and making other animal noises as they deliver dialogue. But the focus is really on the filmmakers, and not the actors. There aren’t many clues to how the transformations proceed. This is actually part 4; other videos in the sequence show them setting up the scene – part 2 shows them wrapping something under the shirt of the goat woman (who at that point isn’t wearing the makeup) at 2:48, and part 3 shows longshots of filming the early part of the scene, with no animal makeup. There’s nothing in the earlier videos that relates to the animals or TF, though. |

Great find! I really hope this gets released soon so we can see how it all came together with effects, etc. While there might not be a whole lot of process, the makeup still looks great and the animal sounds mixed in with the dialogue should be cool too.

the donkey girl is adorable. I think this movie needs its own thread.
