Gauging Interest - Rogue with a Cursed Ring

Morning everyone,

I often don't post to this form with exclusive S.W. materials but I've found ever since reading Short Time and The Gift that Keeps on Giving and Don't Drink and Shrink I've been wanting to do a short story or a novel or something with shrinking.

Just recently I was invited to a transformation D&D game. The GM really wanted us to hit on fetishes and stuff that we were into. So I listed all of them but more and more frequently I've been trying to do S.W. and I told him that.

So the GM is like "I can work with that." And gave my Drow Rogue a ring that will shrink her for every spell she uses. The amount of shrinking is dependent upon the spell level, lvl 1 spell = 1 inch from my height, lvl 9 = 9 inches from my height. I have up to 9 inches I could lose a day.

Would anyone be interested in a diary entry/blog sorta story of my rogue as she slowly dwindles away into nothing? Keeping in mind excluding the little bit in Altered Realities this would be my first foray into a Shrinking Woman Genre.

The character is starting off at 5'7" and is actually a Shadow Fey who pretends to be a Drow so people fear her.

It's certainly an interesting concept. I say go for it.

Dwindling away to nothing? Sold.

Fantasy genre fetish story? Ehh....
Personally I've never been a fan of fantasy settings and SW. I find that more often than not the setting overshadows the shrinking (There's a pun in there somewhere).
That said, I like the idea of a ring that causes shrinking based on a character doing a specific task.

Diary style? Jawesome! I love diary style shrinking stories. If you can suspend disbelief about at what point the shrinking would make journaling impossible I find that style of narrative to be very personal and to add more depth to the overall story. I recently snagged the audio story Shrinking Violet by Comicbook Babe and for some reason the blog style had me losing it.

My 2 cents would be to maybe try to put it into a familiar setting, like the real world, if this is your first foray into the SW genre. But that's just my slightly, biased suggestion.

I suppose I can make it an urban setting instead of a fantasy setting. That's all I did with Altered Realities. I lifted elves, demons, ogres and the like and put them into a world with cell phones and cars and rock concerts.

I mean don't make any decisions solely on my account, that's just my 2 cents.

Not a fan of "to nothing" but such a long, drawn out set of shrinking parts, each one far enough apart to rrally appreciate her size as she gets smaller... it's a dream ^__^

I love any prolonged shrinking story, and adding at least the fear of shrinking to nothing is always fun.

Whether fantasy or urban, I say go for it.

(And thanks for the "Short Time" shout-out)

Re: Gauging Interest - Rogue with a Cursed Ring

If you are interested in doing it, shouldn't that be all that matters? Why is interest from others an influence in how you spend your time?

While having someone be the primary driver in the progression towards some transformed state is interesting and good subject material, what would compel the character to use a cursed ring with such an obvious detriment on her long-term well-being? If she wants people to fear her, wouldn't turning into a half-pint have the opposite effect? Or is that her story -- that she has to learn to lose that as it becomes physically impossible to intimidate.

A ring of growth that increases her size with every spell used would seem more complimentary, but that would eventually reach a point where the character becomes a true villain.
