JuanValdez/Coffeeman
Angrboda

Coffeeman! I completely forgot he existed, his stuff was awesome.
Does he still have an online presence?

Not as far as I know. Last I've seen of him was on Transfur, four years ago.

(For those who are unfamiliar, here's Coffeeman's gallery on Transfur

Re: The Mt. Rushmore of TF Artists

I'm going with the people that laid the groundwork for TF art in the early internet days and therefore selecting:

Lars
LoboLeo
Ivandaguru (Ivan11422)
Werekatt

Some unnamed sculptor in Rome who did a set of statues for Augustus/Caligula's grotto.Showed a feminine Skylla with wailing Jason/Ulysses

Walter Crane did a 1880 vintage Laidley Worm painting

Some other 19th century painter did a sexy Lilith with a loving snake
embracing her

Some 17th or 18th century woodcut artist did bipedal werewolves
handing out at the Wewolf Hangout.Think it had one werewolf with a
dead girl in his jaws

Re: The Mt. Rushmore of TF Artists

Since Mt Rushmore is honoring old school early creators who opened the doors and inspired more generations, I'm going with:

Kemono Inuki - amazing suit-based animal transformations
Coffeeman - fantastic drawings (sadly, lost to time it seems)
Mako - talented but invaluable as enabler of so many artists through collecting on their site
Less Than Human - amazing manipulations

A close second: Something-Wild, LoboLeo, Gryf, Rzr444 (like Mako, an enabler of so many more), not sure who the actual artist was behind the Mermaid's Tail site...

I'm not sure where to put people like Missa, who really did a lot on the video side that was new and impressive...

It occurred to me to add some recognition for current artists that are keeping things amazing like LiminalBean, Morphingu, Solone, Genyun, and more.

I feel old.

Re: The Mt. Rushmore of TF Artists

Wow, this thread is like a bear trap laid out at your feet with a "please don't mind me" post-it-note attached. For me, I'd have to start with both Ian Williams and Naga from Naga's Den, though I'm surprised Darin hasn't appeared in any lists so far. Third nominated (though not actually in order of quality) would probably be Gryf simply for the quality of TF being so very, very far ahead of the curve. Fourth to me comes down to more recent work, and while I love GenYun's work and I'm so tempted to make that my number four choice, I think I'm going to have to go with BlackShirtBoy. This list is so difficult!!! So my 4 are, in no particular order:

Ian Willams
Naga
Gryf
BlackShirtBoy

EDIT: Totally forgot about Ranzab! Can I have a 5th? Also, Pop Fusion is still active but making 3D work under an account called Fyedo.

Re: The Mt. Rushmore of TF Artists

I'd say for me that the following are my top picks.

1: Hazard - The first artist I ever saw art from when I joined the community in 2008.

2: Black Rat - Big sexy foot paws, that is all I can really say on him.

3: Edmol - I liked the cartoony style.

4: Nexus - My first ever exposure to photomanipulation art, sadly when I discovered Nexus they were at the end of doing photomanipulations.

Honorable mentions for some artists of today and the past:

Wereworld: This guy is going to be one of the greats of the modern day.

Something-Wild: Another great photomanipulator, I'm still amazed at the level of detail put into each pic.

Genyun: I'm not the biggest fan of 3D TF images, they often come out looking a little weird for my tastes but Genyun is one of those rare exceptions as his work always amazes me.

Arania: Can't have a list like this without mentioning one of the other early artists I found when starting out on the scene in 2008.

Rushmore features four presidents who all had a hand in major events in the country's history. I think a true list for TF artists would represent those that have had longevity and/or made an impact on the scene. Just something to toss about, and discuss.
.
I view it as Online/Internet Trans-FurryFetish Art
so "TFF Art"
rather then "TF Art"

As I recall things

1995-2001 buildup of the TF Webring,Transfur and its associated artist/furry websites, etc

More or less TFF artists figured there was money to be had in light fluffy fetish
art

Though at the time I thought the real 911 event had caused a major decline
afterwards nowadays I'd say the decline happened in 2003 to 2009

Dragoniade shut down the Shadowlord site for 4 years
Transsfur deleted all furry themed art and the associated artists webpages
Yahoo blew away GeoCities and cast off the Web Ring part of it

So by 2010 what you were seeing was "orphaned' TFF art floating around
the internet without the webpages/websites that had previously existed
alongside those line art drawings

So

Arthur Pearson ( Picklejuice ) Greekel

Arania her ability to make economical mass produced TFF art when the overall TFF world was
heading for the exits

MeanBean had a sensitive Princess>Dragon piece

CanneryRat ( ? )/Hyperjet
good narrative in the comic sequence
of newlyweds with a mother-in-law the witch
and a cursed wedding ring
