Dastardly and Muttley
Recently completed and now available in trade paperback, Dastardly and Muttley is part of DC's line of comics based around the Hanna-Barbera library (this time written by Garth Ennis and illustrated by Mauricet).
It adapts the characters of Dastardly and Muttley in Their Flying Machines as realistic air force pilots. The plot centers on an unstable element being spread throughout the world which is gradually (and sometimes suddenly) turning everyone into cartoon characters. Of particular note, Lieutenant Colonel "Dick" Atcherly becomes more maniacal, his navigator "Mutt" Muller changes from a human being into an anthropomorphic dog, and Captain "Zee" Zabarnowski develops a pronounced hourglass figure and stereotypically feminine impulses. I consider it quite a prize for our fetish and I recommend hunting it down, though keep in mind, this is by Garth Ennis. So while there's plenty of comedy the tone tends to get a bit grim. It's not exactly a "feel good" story. But I'd say it's good for what it is. Last edited by Case Scenario; 05-11-2018 at 04:20 PM. |
