I checked and it seems that R2D2 was a 3-D animator at the BEA who actually DIED. He didn't just disappear; he died.

The guy in this topic that people thought was dead was rejected as a BEA artist (3 times) and decided if he wasn't appreciated, he wouldn't make anymore BE art or comics (this all occured in the late 90's). But Lightfoot hosted the pilot comic he made, "Dottie's DD Diner", and I think he resurfaced when he realized that people liked what little art he posted before being dissed by the webmaster at the BEA.

Bah, in my oppionion (it's not pleasent) the BEA is the crappest B.E site i've came across in ages, they except you to pay to see the good stuff, and disrepect great artists like this guy. I'm suprised it still exists.
