How Did You Get Into SW
Hello All,
We've discussed our favorite parts of a shrinking sequence. I thought it might be fun to share how we get into this SW world. The first time I saw something kinda SW was the wacky music video by The Cars where the singer held that hot model in his hand (granted, she wasnt SW, but still). Since I was a kid (early to mid 80s), I remember that just about every cartoon had a shrinking theme episode - Punky Brewster, The Chipmunks, Ghostbusters, Ninja Turtles, etc etc. I always felt a certain thrill with those, especially when the shrinking involved female characters. I remember wstching movies like Honey I Shrunk the Kids and The Incredible Shrinking Woman. As I got older, I kinda moved on from SW, until I randomly caught a rerun of Lois and Clark on TV. I was flipping around, and saw a tiny woman in a cage. I watched the rest of the episode, and when the (spoiler) villianness is shrunk out of her clothes to nothing, it awoke something in me. Granted, the effect was awful, but the actress played it good. A few years later, around 2003 I think, I stumbled upon the world of SW on the web. I marveled at the art, and loved reading the great stories, in particular Always Follow the Directions, Laundry Day, and I dont recall the title but there was a two part story where a shrink ray reaks havoc on a group of college coeds. Then, a few years later, clips from GiantessDreams, Shrinking Dreams, and later Missa and Red Parrot set the SW bar high. Its a pity there dont seem to be as many clips as ususl. Anyone else? |

I found myself oddly fascinated with how Alice in the 2010 Alice In Wonderland shrank out of her clothes instead of with her clothes, I found it interesting, so one night I looked for more, then a deep dark pit of fetish porn later here I am!

I remember there was an HBO original movie called Witch Hunt that had a great SM sequence. Its a real pity that spell wasnt used on a woman though. |

Re: How Did You Get Into SW
I was one of the lucky ones to have AOL and such back in Pre-2000 era. I couldn't tell you off hand *what* I had originally seen or what have you to get me into SW, but I'd imagine given what I was watching/seeing at the time it was most likely Magic School Bus or Looney Toons, that sort of thing. I don't recall watching Disney's Alice animated movie until long after I was really into SW.
However, what I DO remember from back then was The Reducer's original site very plain and simple. Kylia was just appearing at that time. The Process forum was just another board on whatever domain most of the fetish boards were on (I swear it was adultforums but the actual domain escapes me now) and only eventually did we get the SW Portal for a nice big list of links, that was mildly updated at the time. I feel like I've seen a good chunk of the SW community come and go, and for a good part of the "beginning" (back when the idea of a custom SW video was a pie in the sky idea and basic HTML held everything together) I was underage and mostly just too damn shy and afraid to comment on anything, so I sat back and absorbed. So in a lot of ways I'd put my SW fetish as being almost in a loop. While I don't honestly remember the very first idea that sprung into my head, the biggest was just searching for "shrinking women" on yahoo.com, which led me to all of you. So, you all are really to blame for all of this. |

Yeah, I remember a lot of those old sites.
If I recall, I tried searching for shrinking women online not ling after seeing a SW episode of Charmed. I saw the description in the paper that Allisa Milano was going to shrink and I had to tune in. |

Re: How Did You Get Into SW
I would have to say that my first introduction into SW was probably much the same as most of you who are old enough to remember the '80's.
Back then, with the glut of Saturday morning cartoons, all sorts of weird and wonderful ideas filled the animated stories of all the cartoons that went from 7am till 12pm each Saturday. Most of the popular cartoons had at least one shrinking scene in them at some point. One in particular that I really loved, which also combined Age Regression, was G.I. Joe, where the team goes to a spa where half the team is shrunk and regressed, while the other half get older. Seeing Lady Jay becoming younger (and smaller) was kinda cool, and it was fun at the end when she was returned to normal...and didn't have her bikini bottom. *Big grin* But there were all sorts of shows: Punky Brewster, Gummi Bears, Dragons Lair, Dungeons and Dragons, Transformers and many more. Now they may not have all had women shrinking, but there was shrinking involved. An even older one, which you can still find the video on YouTube, involves Wonder Woman from the SuperFriends cartoon, where she gets shrunk by a sinister cat who can manipulate a shrinking ray. Even comic books in the '80's and '90's were brave enough to try to pull off shrinking, age regression and other fun bodily changes...and some of them focused on women. One in particular that I can remember was a DC Comic called Amethyst, where this young twelve year-old girl gets transported to another dimension, and while traveling between the two dimensions, she either ages to become a hot early twenty-something woman, or gets younger when she returns to Earth. Granted, it was AR or AP, but there was shrinking / growing involved. Of course, Alice in Wonderland has got to be a major contributor to my enjoyment of SW, but it wasn't until Disney's movie with Johnny Depp where the shrinking really got to be cool and believable. I mean, the first time Alice shrinks, she shrinks right into her clothes in such a way that had never been properly shown before and I was like...YIKES! That's what I'm talkin' about! In any case, I too stumbled upon the AOL era websites dealing with Shrinking Women including the SW Forum, SW Portal, and other similar sites. Minimizer's website was the go-to place until he let it fall into disrepair a couple of years ago (Where did you go, Min?), but back in the day, it was great to get together with folks and post stories, get feedback and see what other folks were doing for the community. I met a lot of friends, whom I can see some are still here...Sci-Dram...Mercutio (under a different name) and some others. LoreKeep, of course...TALON!!!! WHERE ARE YOU!!!! I bet he's lurking, just enjoying this. Anyway!...I too went into lurking mode for awhile, but I never gave up on the love for SW, which is mainly why I decided to come back. Obviously, thanks to the wonderful comments by some here and on other posts, I've seen that my stories are still well loved...and thanks to Mercutio's strong belief that my D2D story should be completed, I now am endeavoring to finish it for folks to read and enjoy. It's already at 45 chapters (averaging 12-16 pages per chapter), and there's still much to go. As for the older stories I have...as I have said...I think they deserve to be re-edited and brought back for folks to enjoy with the detail and vivid imagery that I think I could improve upon. In the meantime, I'm enjoying reading what you guys have to say! Troy Light formerly TDLAmador P.S. - What ever happened to Sammi? Sam? Are you still out there somewhere? |

Re: How Did You Get Into SW
For me it was when I randomly found the story "Shrinking Lucy", after reading it I went looking for more SW related material and found Toyogub's old website and the rest is history.

Re: How Did You Get Into SW
It was definitely Alice for me. I would surreptitiously look for adaptations of the story whenever I got the chance so I could check out the different takes on size-changing. I saw size-changing scenes on cartoons, too, but I soon realized that I enjoyed them much more when the subject was female.

Re: How Did You Get Into SW
I actually ended up here completely by accident.
I was 13 when the remake of "Attack of the Fifty Foot Woman" with Daryl Hannah first aired. Being an impressionable teenage boy, that scene where she grows and busts out of her clothes had a profound effect on me. I went looking for more giantess stuff and ended up somehow stumbling across that old AOL page of Shrinly428. I soon discovered that, though I still enjoyed GTS, SW fascinated and titillated even more. I was participating even back then, and I was still underage when I wrote "A Little Love." I remember the days of the old Process sites, and I remember the ProForums and Hotboards message boards. The state of things today is bittersweet, I think. On the one hand, more content exists than ever before, and it's easier to find. On the other hand, there don't seem to be as many people creating it, and some of the old stuff seems lost forever.

When word got out that Minimizer was letting his website go, I scrambled to copy the stories he and I worked on together in order to preserve what I could. He had Toobin', Always Follow The Directions, and Redemption (my very first attempt at shrinking, which was partially a SM and a faerie story similar to his Faerie in Central Park). I also recovered Diamond in the Rough, my part of the collaborative story that had an Adventures in Miniaturization link to it. To this day, I don't fully understand what happened with Min. I guess he had RL issues to deal with and didn't have as much time for SW anymore. I hope he's still out there somewhere. I consider him a good friend and, like Captain Algren from The Last Samurai...I miss our conversations. Troy Light formerly TDLAmador |
