I don't think it was ever really a matter of eastern vs. western material. The only factor there is that there's little to no chance of any of the japanese artists finding out or doing anything about it and so no stink is ever raised.

I think it's more an issue of, and I suppose rightly so, that we and other similar communities get pissed whenever someone steals the shit of somone we "know" or someone who's work directly adds to our community, because then there is the threat they'll get pissed and stop.

Does this make us hypocritical, that we defend our own and gladly take whatever material we want from oneone and everwhere else, and justify said taking? Maybe, but it's also normal, logical behavior that probably isn't going to change anytime soon.
