Skin-rippage TFs. What's your opinion?

Not a fan. It's a little gross, especially when blood and gore are involved. Though ask me why I don't find bones popping and moving gross and I really couldn't tell you.

It's not my thing. To me it is like the xenomorph bursting through the guy's chest in Alien, a separate entity that rips through and kills the original being instead of one thing that is transformed into another tooth for fang, nail for claw etc...I agree with the previous comments that it does share a lot of similarities with the "poof" style TF.

When done right it can seem like a butterfly (or monster) emerging from its crystalis.

There was a decent relatively no gorey one in Dr. Who involving hair. I do like the gore though.

Also partial skin rippage can be a nice addition. this would be where something like claws rip throug the skin graphicly.

^This is what I like most about skin ripping. Also it fits thematically with any sort of reptile transformation if you think of it as discarding the old skin for the new.

Without blood and gore, I don't mind it too much, and I guess if done right it could still be good, so yeah we're in agreement there. But I dunno, it's like rick404 said, it doesn't feel like a transformation, it feels like something bursting out of the creature, a separate entity that kills the host. The one exception to this feeling for me were the TFs in Van Helsing (tragically not a single female werewolf) which I thought were done well despite being CG heavy.

In the story that I wrote, the animal IS her. It's her inner-power, her inner-self that's released. The person she had always wanted to be, had always been there, waiting just below the surface.

On a sidenote, I'm also considering writing a tf similar to that at the end of "Company of Wolves", though with a female instead. Don't confuse this with the bloody tf midway through the movie, which is rather different.

This'll likely be after I continue the Thundercats fanfic, though, whenever that may be.

Well, some people do think it's sexy.

You know there's plenty of people out there that think transformations in general are gross or disturbing or scary. So it shouldn't be any surprise at all that some people have different tastes even within the transformation community.

The skin ripping scene in Cat People, I liked it. And the one in Tales from the Darkside the Movie, I liked it. The concept of skin ripping scene in Snake Sisters, I liked it (though the special effects made it look silly).

So remember, just because you don't think it's sexy does not mean that it isn't sexy. It just isn't to you.
