Taylor, our other editor and myself all work on Macs but the customer support emails go up tenfold when releasing in mov so to avoid spending hours every day explaining to PC users how to get the correct codecs we just use the depressingly slow Flip4mac software.

If there is an interest in any other format than we'll start releasing it--no problem.

Quicktime's H.264 codec is the best, and damn the PC guys if they can't figure out how to install the latest free quicktime.



I'm a mac guy, and flip4mac IS painfully slow.

Perhaps mpeg might be an option?

Another Mac guy here (and Hollywood-bound FCP editor), and I gotta agree.. flip4mac is evil. Would it be difficult (or costly) for you to offer multiple options? If not h264 quicktime, then perhaps xvid/divx, in addition to wmv?

Heh, no worries. I wasn't that bent out of shape about it. Beggars can't be choosers after all I'm just mad at M$ for ditching their support and Flip4Mac is nowhere near an adequate replacement. Sooo many video codecs, so little patience I have

Any Mac users here should look into getting Perian, it's a free set of Quicktime components that cover almost all types of video formats out there. Saved my life professionally more then a few times.

If you prefer a more hands on approach, drop 23 bucks on Visual Hub, a video converter for Mac that handles WMV to any damn format you please without a problem. I work at an advertising agency and I use that for any video problems that come up, hasn't failed me yet.

Yeahhh! This was awesome!! Finally, some foot-centric stuff has come around! For someone who's into this kind of thing, I thought it was great. and a huuuuge thumbs up to the two in one video format. Really neat.

Episode two should have 3 possibly 4 girls wrecking footwear including the two girls that were in part one.

I think I will have a high quality H.264 mov exported for our next few clips and see if people react well or not.

Wmv is a dead end. There is nothing useful I can do with one of those once its made. But we went from handling 1-2 customer support emails a day to MAYBE one a month once we sold nothing but wmv files.

Flip4mac is blazingly quick now compared to those brutal, brutal, fucking brutally slow early days in their monopoly and the ONE competitor that sprung up with a MUCH FASTER & CHEAPER app "Popwire" Flip4mac quickly bought out and that was the end of that.

Will WMV still be an option? It's not the greatest format sure but my encoder works really well on switching that to divx file so I can watch it on my stand alone divx player. I could try encoding a .mov but it hasn't worked well before.
