Re: Ce

This actually makes more sense than you guys think. For those not really bothering:

A project that wasn't able to take off but was recently rediscovered. These are movies thy were planning to do but with all projects comes the matter of those who would help. "Base" refers to, I'm assuming, storyboards or "ideas" in this case, and then other members with movie-making knowledge would, assumably, work together to make a finished product.

Blah, blah, blah detail. Making a TF Movie Film Festival if there manages to be a lot of content... but that's pretty much the gist of it.

But you guys know that.

Re: Ce

Oh I understood what he was trying to convey about the collection of videos. But that's about the only thing. What I fail to understand is why he took the time to make all that, and compile it, and send it to someone that he seems to assume we're familiar with by email address alone. I also don't understand why he decided to share it with us with no context as to what he was referring to in the initial post; or why he decided to edit the first post instead of clarifying it in a reply. Nor do I understand why he thought the TF community was dying out years ago in the first place.

All I know is steam punk dragons and serpent woman legends manage to work their way into every one of his posts, even when the subject matter of the thread those posts find themselves in have absolutely nothing to do with those things. No matter how many times anyone points out how odd or irrelevant his posts are he never responds. Going back and editing his original post this time is about the most reaction I've seen him give to the confusion he generates. I think I might have seen him reply to a post before, but it was nearly a year later as I recall.

Re: Ce

AzureChromatic sez This actually makes more sense than you guys think. For those not really bo thering:

A project that wasn't able to take off but was recently rediscovered.

Basically a intenet volunteer driven filmmakers "Mechanno/American Erector"
set

"Base" refers to, I'm assuming, storyboards or "ideas" in this case,

charcoal-mation ( 2006):draw the background /none changing scene
on white paper with Skrip black ink
.charcoal pencils tend to erase very easily, but while the
morphing/moving/talking animated item is on there the black charcoal
scans in very easily to make a cel # 01 ( charcoal has a nice texture
that stands out well in the scanned image.)
Erase/alter the charcoal and alter it,move it.The black ink from the
scene/background stays put and the morphing charcoal does its thing
in a series of cels from cel #00 to (example ) cel 25.Back in 2006
such methods allowed about 25-64 cels to be made per hour,About
8 to 20 seconds of animation per run using 3-5 frames/second

The base refers to a vast quantity of the jpeg cels and the avi clips
made from them. There was also verious stuff such as audio effects files,a time line video editor called Video Framer thats fairly useful
to do multiple tasks such as audio editing, converting a
avi clip back into its jpeg 'screen capture' cels, etc

Back in 2006 I still had a communityminded spirit so the clips and cels
were less fetish/vanity influenced then my later stuff.

Hence about 250 MB of 'generic' userfriendly stuff in the 2013 version
of the base and 550 MB in the less userfriendly 2006 base.
animation now residing with
Larry Barron.

Since that stuff can only decline in value as new technology and
software scomes along, and since Larry Barron expressed a interest in the
Open Source Public Cel TF Animation Archive,I sent it off to him
to do with as he pleases and signed off rights to the intellectual property/copywrite of the material.

and then other members with movie-making knowledge would, assumably, work together to make a finished product.

products,many many products.As we all know,the components of a
Mechanno set can be put together in more ways then are included in that toys
assembly manual. of projects to make.

So if others volunteers to help Larry Barron with matters,it would be a
project tying together many diffent disciplines of a volunteer
population to make a "film industry'

Blah, blah, blah detail. Making a TF Movie Film Festival if there manages to be a lot of content...

Actually if
Open Source Public Cel TF Animation Archive took off,it would dwarf
anything the current and past tf communities have done.TFIFF was just
the flavour of the month.Larry Barron is skilled at computers
and lightscribing DVD's and was asking me questions more in line with
marketing,advertising,imaginary movies posters,general
"Hottest thing coming out of Hollywood" territory .Not a field
I felt I could help him on.

but that's pretty much the gist of it.

More or less

Re: Ce

I kinda get what he's saying: he's looking to centralize community production materials for future TF media. Incredibly disjointed thoughts - and I'm not quite sure what name-dropping an unfamiliar name is supposed to accomplish - but the basic idea is in there, somewhere.

Re: Ce

I can't believe you guys don't understand what he is trying (and accomplishing delightfully well) to convey. It is all there in elementary style. For what it is worth, Larry Barron always was and always will be 'the man'. I totally vouch for that.

The basic idea of a single string of ideas intertwining, intersecting, transforming and becoming more than the value of the sum of the parts is something I would absolutely read into, and possibly be inclined to watch. Quality is a virtue that must be comprehended in order to sustain interest long-term.
Do not, for a moment, take for granted the talents of those individuals who apply themselves towards the makings of such ingenious creations.
As far as public cel tf animation is concerned, all I need to hear is "Mechanno/American Erector" and I am good as there. Join the cause my friends.

This community is on the edge. A TF alert here or there, a story pops up you may or may not read, another artist bites the dust. We constantly rely on the 'fresh' to fill our days. The yesterdays give us joy and a moment of comfort, but in your heart, you know the anticipation of that brand new find, the pacing sweaty palms as you find something your heart knew could only exist but your brain could only scrape. Striking the annual gold rush (if you are lucky) but more than likely settling for the fate of what your hand may be.

Push the bridges and build a chance.
