Re: Bombing in Boston

Reports of a suspect in custody have been confirmed to be false. There is no suspect, and as of right now there is no word as to whether this was a domestic action or not.

Fortunately for me all the highprofile targets in HOuston are not only outside the loop, they are outside of the beltway. Unless the terrorists are really homophobic, in which case I might be screwed.

Re: Bombing in Boston

Just so everyone's clear, the incident at JFK library was an unrelated mechanical malfunction, and not caused by a device of any kind.

Re: Bombing in Boston

Thank you for the clarification. At hte time I was only hearing that they were unsure of it's relation, if any, to the Marathon bombs.

Re: Bombing in Boston

Oh, I understand. I think the idea that the two incidents were related was an obvious one. Just offering some clarification now that more facts are out.

Re: Bombing in Boston

Here's a thought that genuinely terrifies me.
What if this was the NRA's doing?
A rogue faction, if that makes you feel better about it.

I've probably watched entirely too much 24, but consider this:
Who benefits? Where does the money lead?
Seems to me that an awful lot of arms manufacturers could capitalize on a tragedy like this.
Wouldn't even be the first time; German arms manufacturers and the Reichstag come to mind.

And who's the public mouthpiece for these armorers, again?

I'd be very wary of any announcements in the coming days.

EDIT: I'm sure I'll draw the ire of some of the pro-gun crowd here, and I'm okay with that.
I don't mean to disrespect our servicemen and women and their families.
Neither do I intend to in any way denigrate their service to preserving our way of life.

What I do mean to do, is to call out the possibility of a wolf among the sheep - a fox in the henhouse, if that works better for you. It's thoroughly disturbing to me that there's even a slim possibility that the very people who cry "foul" loudest whenever they perceive any sort of threat to the Second Amendment, may be the same people who artificially create a continued need for it. It certainly wouldn't be the first time.

And to those who argue that I have no proof for this "wild conspiracy theory" - that all I have is conjecture and insinuations - that's true, but I ask you this: how well does any of us know his fellow man? It may not be a bad idea to be at least a little suspicious of an organization that predicts Armageddon at the hands of a single-page PFEC.

Owning a few weapons myself, i dont see any flaw in your logic. It COULD have been some nut job thinking he was doing right by the 2nd amendment or some such thing.... buts let not hope a person is THAT mentaly far gone. But for the moment it will take precedence over gun controll for the next few days to week. Lets just sit back and see what the FBI find on these A-holes and make sure this is harder to do do in the future.... as there will always be SOME way to do something like this again unfortunatly.

Re: Bombing in Boston

Let's just pump the brakes before we start pointing fingers at our fellow countrymen, okay? To me this sort of feels like a domestic incident, but that doesn't mean we should start guessing at motive or affiliation. Considering that the FBI doesn't even know what the hell's happened just yet, it's a bit premature. I've seen people suspect everyone from the NRA to the Tea Party to American Muslims, and none of it is even remotely fair until we know better.
