Re: Giant Girl Adventures Webcomic

It really is practically impossible to engage in the type of brawls that she does and not cause enormous catastrophic property damage as well as loss of life, realistically. So that was one of the elements that I wanted to put into this strip even with the cartoony nature of it. And the perfect hero never appealed to me- the one who gets it right every time, always saves the day and never fails? Boooring.

I like my heroes human and flawed, and prone to the occasional poor decision. Hopefully that comes through i this strip... or she might just come off as a horrendously irresponsible hedonist with super-powers. That I will leave for the readers to decide...

That's all well and good but let's not have it turn into season 2 of The Walking Dead now. I'm there's "flawed" heroes, and there's "WTF is wrong with you" heroes.

Well, not sure if I can live up to that. I'm still busy establishing her flaws while setting up her good points. Guess we'll see in time...

Actually, that wasn't what I meant. Here's what I meant to say.

I can promise that a lot easier. I'll pass on something so bland as 'the search for Sofia' and keep it actually entertaining. We will devolve into silliness from time to time, and Giant Girl will continue to be a polarizing personality (all part of her charm). And from time to time we'll have a tender or touching or dramatic moment amongst the silliness.

And exploitation. We'll definitely keep with the exploitation. Cuz she's a ho.

You love to insult your own character don't you?

I do. So many creators seem to be so desperately in love with their characters that they cannot give them flaws or see thir foibles, and I never wanted to be one of those. Instead I prod and malign her, as a reflection of how the world tends to treat her, but she's tough enough to bounce back from it all. She's no surface veneer, she's got honest depth and internal struggles that she tries hard to overlook, but doesn't always manage to accomplish. And her best friend is always there to back her up, but also to remind her that there's an embarrassing moment always waiting for her just out of sight.

So yes, I suppose I do enjoy needling her, and I suppose that could be seen as insulting her. She is by far my favorite, and I'd rather be accused of loving to insult her than to be in love with her and unable to see her maligned in any way. To my mind that would make for a pretty boring saga.

But different strokes for different folks I suppose.
