I remember my introduction to the genre was at 16 stumbling across samapuma's website. had no idea what I was getting into lol.

Yep, I am also one of the Very Old Ones. I mean, chat via Telnet, image galleries full of red X's (some never loaded xD) and hubs that had very exoteric ways of organizing the content (days and days lost to find an awful low-budget movie with a 30 seconds horrible TF).
