Re: The Origins of TF
For sure the webrings, Geocities sites, Yahoo groups, (now Ms) Mako had multiple excellent sites, CBlack, DanielSan, Kemono Inuki, Coffeeman, TGI by Rzr444, lots of older stuff in addition to what's already been mentioned by others was around in the mid to late 90s. Even Deviantart.com started in 2000.

Re: The Origins of TF
I found the community back in the early 2000s. But I am more of a lurker and only talk or share when I have something worthwhile to say or do.

Re: The Origins of TF
In the mid-to-late 90's there were a bunch of sites. Depending on the TF type you had all kinds of random places linked through what was called the Transformation Web Ring. As for when it started? Pre-1997 because it was already established by then. I lurked back then.

Re: The Origins of TF
I know I started posting stuff around late 96-early 97, if I remember right. I just starting doing it because I had comics, cartoons and tv shows recorded, and related toys. After doing searches for scans on the subjects, I was not finding some of the shows I had. My first searches for TF/furry, I can remember going into newsgroups that had images posted of artwork and cons of people dressed up. Then finding photomanips done by Kemono Den, think that was his name. The Transformation Ring and so on. My site started on geocities, then moved to TransFur, and then to Transform.to

Re: The Origins of TF
For me, it was TransFur in 2004, which is when I got internet at home for the first time. I remember a good bunch of pieces got erased when they stopped hosting TF involving fictional characters; like an amazing Zilla transformation sequences, and one with Xena and Gabrielle transforming into minotaurs.
And of course, there was Arania's gallery and the process back in the day. |

Re: The Origins of TF
I also recall a website with some movie/tv series screen caps interspersed with text descriptions. It had a blue background, I can't seem to remember the name. It was the first place I found out about the TF in the Aladdin episode "shark treatment". I don't suppose this rings a bell for anyone?

Re: The Origins of TF
There was also iterations of this board it self, it was once on a different site and moderated by a guy called lizardman. Now I feel it’s evolved to discord. I remember the TGA and webrings, transfur, pickle juice, pop fusion, werekatt’s site, Kurt (who’s still around today). I remember we used to have “TF Alert” threads and I’d record the clips I had a while vhs of all recorded TF clips from TV at the time.
