Five "core" games and 25 years worth of iconic moments. Oh, and at least one out-of-control TF/EC (the original game), one implied possession (from the 2010 game), one EC (same game), and two parody-processes from the NES spinoff (of Alien and The Exorcist) for the female characters of the series.

Been a while since I checked this place. Anywho, I just watched a pretty cheesy movie called "It Conquered the world". It stars Lee Van Clef (The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly), and Peter Graves (Airplane). It's corruption is lame, but Graves' monologues are pretty good. So if you're into this kind of cheese, then give it a view. I happened to watch it on a old episode of MST3K.

Re: Evil conversion(for the lack for better term)

Does anyone recall a short story of this sort:
(Sailor Moon fanfic), which I believe to have been written in Japanese
It's about Sailor Moon (Usagi) being corrupted and ultimately turns into the Queen of Darkness, and the short story ends with a picture of the corrupted Usagi spawning out of a flower or something like that.
I know it's extremely vague, so it's a shot in the dark.

So... Starcraft II: Heart of the Swarm. Need I say it? Alright... I haven't played it myself, but from the looks of things, everything Raynor did in Wings of Liberty was all for nothing.

Anyways, real news: Dinaranger.

Re: Evil conversion(for the lack for better term)

*Spoilers!*

It wasn't all for nothing. She had to rezerg herself in order to help save the universe from the big scary void thing that was just going to destroy everything and everyone. She also did it sooner than expected because she thought Jim was dead. She saves Jim toward the end of the game and he lets her live when he finds out that she's just Sarah Kerrigan and not the Queen of Blades. She also admits she loves him and always has and always will. He tells her they're through but the theory is in the final expansion they'll hook up once and for all as a couple, either because Jim accepts her for who she is or becomes a part zerg himself to stay with her. It's not the best theory or story, a lot of people feel pretty bummed out about Heart of the Swarm.

Really... "Worlds will burn?" And that's not evil-con? I know her hatred is mostly for one guy, but come on, you don't just say something like that.

EDIT: Eh... nevermind, I decided to watch the cinematics on YouTube.

Well, that set my mind at ease, Rei-Lin. Thank you.
I seriously need to play those games sometime.

You do when you have a writing team as bad as Blizzard's!

Re: Evil conversion(for the lack for better term)

Blizzard's plots were at least interesting up to D2/LoD and Brood War (though Brood War went over the top at the end) D3 and SC2 so far have been meh. Then again it has been a while since I played the earlier ones.

D2 all the original D1 heroes have been corrupted and are fought as boss types.
SC you get noble Kerrigen warped into infested Kerrigen.

D3 Not much of a surprise Sheablo with a firey poof TF. No corrupt hero/heroines from previous that I am aware.
SC2 Kerrigen again.

Re: Evil conversion(for the lack for better term)

Noble Kerrigan? She was A-Okay with dropping Zerg on Tarsonnus. She was just doing her job.

There was a pretty dramatic shift in the quality of Blizzard's writing somewhere around Warcraft 3. I think whatever good writers (or maybe the editor that kept Metzen in line) moved on to WoW and then burned out somewhere around Lich King.

Oh, and speaking of Blizz's evil conversions there's Sylvanas' transformation from elven general to banshee to queen bitch of the dead. Her sister's still trying to bring her back, but considering how she was trying to concoct a toxin that would turn the entire world into her own personal scourge I'd say she's pretty far gone.

Re: Evil conversion(for the lack for better term)

I can't really tell if Blizzard's writing quality has gone down or my standards have gone up since being a teenager. Probably a little bit of both.

Anyway - haven't bought HotS yet; I'll probably wait a few months for the price to drop.
