Back to the Sewers, episode 3. The title of the episode is "Something Wicked"
Not quite, it was actually the episode after, "The Engagement Ring" as it dealt with April receiving the wrong ring for her engagement to Casey. Something Wicked was about the turtles going into cyberspace to find Splinter's data.

Current version of April is specifically immune to mutagen actually, as well as being psychic. We still got a horrifying deformed clone that goes "derp", and I'm not even kidding it actually says derp

Most if not all of the TFs that April went through in the previous few series were not mutagen related. The only one that might have been was the wasp TF, at least that was the only one that involved a liquid being applied to her to trigger it. The current series is a little too fixated on the mutagen as being the only means to cause a transformation, almost as if her immunity to mutagen and mutagen being the only catalyst for transformation were specifically tailored so as to never have an April TF scene in the current series. Perhaps due to the show's staff being aware of the TF fetish, and April being younger than previous versions. But that's silly.

it is silly.
not to mention that it would be extremely lame if they limit themselves just because they know there's people that enjoy the tf's.
if anything, you would think that they would tap into that so as to get a guaranteed fan base.

They want a fan base of kids who will buy toys not fetishes who will draw fan art.

To second the "MUST SELL TOYS!" philosophy that often goes in these cartoons, it's exactly why Young Justice got cancelled as a show.

It had splendid levels of viewerships and was generally considered the best of it's kind.

It only had one single problem.

It was too popular.... with girls.

And in the eyes of Corporate Executives(.tm), "Girls don't buy toys".
As in, that's -exactly- what the creators of the show got told when their show got cancelled.

A female sibling of mine who was a fan of the show back then was a bit miffed when she thus learned -why- the show was cancelled.

I always thought it was because of the poorly done time-skip that left a huge hole between season 1 and 2 that was to be bridged with a video game, only the game was both bad and delayed so that it didn't come out on time, in fact coming out after the show was canned. Perhaps more the money lost on that game's development than this "too popular with girls" bullshit.

Actually, Words of God from the shows's creators(as in, the actual creative team, not the corporate folks that funds the series and development of video games) apparently showed that there indeed was a lot of pressure from corporates on cartoons they've worked on to do stuff like demanding female characters being put "just one step behind the boys" so they aren't too prominent and that kind of stuff doesn't promote the female characters as much as the guys whom boys could "relate" to and then later buy the toys of, etc.

Note this is the comments of admittedly the member of only one animation team, about one very specific(and possibly biased and/or skewed source of information) personal sets of experience with shows from possibly 2 years or more ago(the show that replaced the Tower Prep project they worked on started in 2012).
