Re: Feeling Low - Shrink Fan Comics

The art is great and the plot is decent.

The size shifts are perfect and I loved it.

I hate that it's depression that shrinks her.

I think it's a forced allegory that is low hanging fruit for a "deep meaning"

Though by now, I think everyone knows my opinion on shrinking.

I want the people that shrink to be willing, and find it enjoyable and that it's fun, not peril.

It was nice that there was not a weird penis worship sex scene or forced non-con lesbian scene.

Honestly, Laundry Day pisses me off for having that and I am so glad this did not repeat that route.

FWIW, you are SUPPOSED to hate that part of the story in Laundry Day. She's a villain.

I know she's a villain. But I still hate the https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.p.../PsychoLesbian trope and how it permeates girl on girl erotica. I know that "some" enjoy it. I know that she's the bad guy and we are supposed to hate them.

I just don't see why the story needed to have it in the first place and it really distracts.

over 50 of the Shrinkfan comics are of women unwillingly being shrunk.

Some of these are just a continuation of other comics, but that makes it just as bad that the person making the story wanted to see the shrunk woman/women in peril longer, and often in MORE peril.

I'm just sick of my kink being used as a punishment or a forced unwilling participant where the shrunken character's life is in danger.

It's so fucking pervasive too. All the way back to Minimizer's work of having a giant male hand force strip and rape a tiny woman who was smaller than a barbie doll.

Re: Feeling Low - Shrink Fan Comics

You do have a point about it being very common in the kink. :/

At least SOME of our comics have willing participants, yeah? lol

Not liking certain stories is one thing. Perfectly fine, as we all have different tastes. In matter a fact I also found that the antagonist in Laundry Day just didn’t do it for me.
But you can’t deny that this, by many, is a beloved story and the antagonist plays a important part in it. Don’t you think people would feel cheated if they adapted this story without the antagonist? I would make the argument that this wouldn’t be the same story they came to love.

I get your frustration, but I think it’s unfair to claim that “your kink” is being used somehow. Your argument sounds a lot like you being sick of people who enjoy parts of this kink you don’t.
Most of Jitensha’s work is probably not to your tastes, but I hope you would agree that there’s nothing wrong with the work she enjoys making.

There is nothing wrong with wishing that there was more consensual, girl on girl, sw, content. In matter a fact I’m wishing the same. I would just ask you to not take down those who enjoy something you don’t.

Have you read PlushWombat’s works on DA?

He has quite a few romantic SW stories. As far as I know all of them are girl on girl.

I have read and prefered PlushWomabt's work.

What I am saying is that there is an uncomfortable majority of stories, typically male focused, on keeping the female lead in peril or being punished for perceived slights. It's an obvious power fantasy and if you have been in the scene as long as I have, you would have noticed how violent SW can be and how so many male SW writers seem to be bleeding female people they know irl or simulations of women they know into these works. Often over the idea of control (read: non-consensual)

I' not here to 'knock' against people's kinks. I just don't want people getting a boner over keeping women terrified and under power with the threat of potential violence with them being shrunk.

Take Boom, Boom, Shrink. "The bully gets what's coming to her"

Or "Upcoming Descent" where the person being shrunk is "a bitch that needs to be taken down a notch"

As if justifying an experience the shrunken perceives as terrifying and not equal to the 'crime'.

Then there is Small Justice which is just torture porn, same as Size Smahers to name a few that Shrinkfan has made themselves.

I just want more lesbian romance in shrinking fantasies that doesn't also go to micro in the first or second act.

There's also a very weird amount of penis worship surrounding SWs

Re: Feeling Low - Shrink Fan Comics

Just read this comic. I found it to be okay. Hits a bit close to home as I have dealt with similar emotions. An interesting concept to be sure. Just not really my cup of tea.

I understand how you feel. I agree with your first paragraph for the most part. They do seem to be saturated. Never liked the violence myself or how power and control plays into it.

As for the rest, that is a problem to be solved. Especially the torture porn stuff. That is off putting at best and revolting at worst.

The lesbian stuff does get boring for me. Mostly just bland get to the action. Micro seems to happen way to fast most of the time.

Not sure about the penis worship. Though I would be happy seeing less of them.

You may not like the story I've been writing. It's man with a forced shrunk woman. I'm trying not to include any sex. Though it does have cosplay. Really writing it has been difficult and has gone through a dozen variations. And I still cant get the ending right.

It's one thing if the person is shrunk and has to deal with it. But having an outside force malevolently be the orchestrator has always felt very wrong to me and often in SW stories, they get away with it or them doing it is in-universe "justified"

Author RogueScholar here.

Can I ask what you mean by "deep meaning?" Other than the bit about "Laughing but only on the outside" that visually demonstrates how depression can affect people even when they seem relatively happy, I wasn't really digging too much into the concept. My initial thought for the story and the goal that I was working around was "what kind of person would want to shut themselves away and make their tiny living space their entire world?" I did try to be respectful about the topic and hope I didn't go too off course with its depiction, but it was really just one part of the picture I had in mind.

I get what you mean in that, regardless of it being "just a fantasy," there does seem to be a bit of aggression in these scenarios and usually plays out as "the bad guy always wins." And I'm sure you understand that a woman being small is going to warrant some sort of danger or peril as opposed to if she were big, especially in, at least from the way I try to structure things, a proper story that warrants investment rather than the majority of the product being just "getting down to business," but I agree that the genre could use some more upbeat stories.

I do actually have some ideas for stories that are more about intentional and consensual shrinking or at least accidental shrinking that then manifests into more fun and lighthearted faire. It'll be a bit before I can get to them, but I'll keep them in mind for my to-do list.

I agree with above, mostly. I like to imagine myself as the shrinkee, so all the revenge and injustice fantasies feel like people making up lies about me - which is the worst thing imaginable. Reduction of the Innocent drove me nuts because everyone was so stupidly accepting of the lie that shrinking = guilt, when there was no reason for them to think that.

Shrinking-as-peril fantasy does work for me, as long as it is the shrinking itself, and not "what all these horrible people keep doing.", that is the primary antagonist. Consent is complicated. Too much, and you are just watching people masterbate. Too little is torture porn, as Doll Elf says.

I think that is the key for what is lacking in all these ShrinkFan works: Likable, relatable characters. Everyone in these stories is either an abysmal horror of a person, or a bland clichéd cypher.

Re: Feeling Low - Shrink Fan Comics

Say, um... sorry for butting in on this conversation, but I'm actually hoping to write a Shrink Fan comic myself someday (not that it'll come out anytime soon: only got the first two pages written so far), and since you guys have been talking about everything you DON'T like about these types of stories, would anybody be willing to give me some pointers on how to write a GOOD story? I already have a rough idea where I want my story to go, but I feel I could maybe use a few pointers, just in case.
